Visited Tamashi and my wife and I were greeted by the coolest gentleman named Bou. We had a seat at the bar and had a great conversation with Bou, who was also our server for the evening. He recommended their house favorite sushi roll, the Sex in the City and the Korean Short Ribs. To our surprise, he brought over some complementary appetizers that were delicious. We went with his recommendations for our entrees and really enjoyed everything. The restaurant has a nice clean modern vibe with some calm Japanese music playing in the background. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. Some great craft beers on tap and great cocktails too. Would absolutely recommend this place and we will most definitely be back. Thanks Bou for making our experience extra memorable. Note: Would be amazing if this location had a Happy Hour or some sort of Bar Bites special. We’re always looking for a nice place to stop for a drink and a good bite to eat.

I had a lovely dinner experience here. The food was incredible, the service was very quick, and the servers were attentive and very helpful and respectful.
For appetizers we tried the salted edamame, it is a large and easily shareable.
I had the seafood udon soup, which was very delicious, and is a very filling and flavorful dish.
We also tried the avocado bomb dish which was a very good appetizer, with a lot of flavors.
I also had the strawberry cocktail which was very delicious, and a sweet and perfect start to the meal.

Lastly, the servers were incredible, they were checking in often, but not hovering, which I appreciated. Great people, very attentive, and I look forward to going back.

I love this place. Me and my bestie go at least once a week, usually Fridays, for dinner and drinks.

While the service has always been exceptional, the staff went above and beyond for us the other night, going out of their ways to learn the names of my friend and I after I made a comment about how I love having a regular place where everyone knows my name–like Cheers.

So they served us desert while playing the Cheers theme song and talking to us by using our first names.

We didn’t request anything special, it wasnt anyone’s birthday. That’s just the kind of vibe in that place.

You can get good food and drinks in a lot of places, but this place is exceptional because of the staff. And the sea bass. And sake. But mostly the staff.

And the wagyu omg…

We’ve been wanting to visit for quite a while. When my Dad came to visit, we decided to take him for dinner. We went early on the Thursday before Balloon Fiesta. There were only a couple of other customers and we were seated immediately. The server was friendly and efficient. We ordered combo plates that came with miso soup. Miso is simple, but takes care and experience to make properly. The cooks obviously took care. It was great. Our entrees were delivered promptly. The presentation was impressive, with the sashimi served on crushed ice in a chalice. The nigiri was laid out on the plate below.
When I was looking over the menu, I thought that the prices seemed a bit high, but the servings ridded me of that concern immediately. Each piece of fish, which included several types of tuna, was far larger than almost anything I’ve been served before. Matsuhisa in Aspen, CO is perhaps the only place I’ve seen larger portions.
Tamashi is one of the few places in Albuquerque that serves authentic wasabi as well as the common horseradish most restaurants serve.
My father, who traveled to Japan often for work before his retirement, declared that the sashimi was on a par with most Japanese offerings and better than nearly all he’s had stateside.
Our only quibble with the meal was that the rice in the nigiri on our combo plate was not sticky enough to hold its shape. Still, it was properly seasoned and delicious.
Since we arrived before the dinner rush, the manager had time to visit each table and answer questions and ensure that everything was to our liking. I fancy myself as a connoisseur but not an expert, so we spent quite a bit of time learning about some of the intricacies of Tamashi’s offerings.
Overall, I have to say that I have found my new favorite place for Japanese food in Albuquerque and will be returning as often as I can afford to.

Great service and super welcoming vibe. The owner came out to say hi, made my ramen himself, and even let us try his homemade chili powder. It was spicy but worth it. We will be coming back !

Had such a great experience here! The whole staff was super friendly and on top of things, and our server Lauren was amazing. She was super attentive without hovering, gave great recommendations, and just had the best attitude the whole time.

The food was awesome, but honestly it was Lauren and the team that made the night. You can tell they really care about their customers. We’ll definitely be back!
10/10 experience and everything tastes so fresh !!!!!!!
( The desert was so good we dug in before we could even take a picture but it was that good !!!! )

We had an amazing spontaneous lunch date here and it exceeded all expectations. From the avocado bomb, to the yellowtail and jalapeños, to the crispy salmon. It was all excellent and the chef as well as the staff was so attentive.

It’s winter here….we all know it…feel it.
In the dry cold morning air. Warm liquids are needed in the lair. To rehydrate and warm the inner core. Look no further then the Tamashi West for they do warm liquids best. From the Miso Soup to a steaming bowl of Udon Noodles that makes my belly & body feel so warmly cuddled. And the variety of hot teas is so soothing to my chilled spirit…go there…you will not regret it.

It’s a young crew, but I can tell that they’re trying really hard to make it an excellent place. They have all the pieces they just need a little bit of work to get there. Food was good atmosphere was lovely and the people were very kind. Give this place a week maybe 2 to get all their ducks in row and become a fine tuned machine and there will be a line out the door for this fantastic food. Make sure to see the manager Bou he is the man with the plan and will make sure yoir taken care of.

Thank you for a lovely evening.

The Mr. Krabs roll was FIRE!!!!!
