My girlfriend and i arrived for our 4th time here, took 11 minutes to be greeted at the bar, finally ordered mozzeralla wedges and they wefe frozen so we sent them back. Get 2nd batch and its still cold so we tell them not to worry about it and the bartender sticks her finger in the wedge to argue that it isnt frozen, “it’s cold.” Then we hear her chef tell her to ‘86’ them which means quit serving. Then we get our entrees and are served pierogies that are black and cooked on a disgusting grill. After all this; she asks me 5 minutes later; i get asked in a condescending tone; “is your hoagie cooked okay?”

They were busy, but didn’t seem to have enough help. In the ladies room, both toilets were leaking. It took a little while to get seated, a while longer for the waitress to get our drinks and another ling wait before our order was taken. Our food took a while to get, and the waitress gave my husband two different meals before the third time was correct. The waitress was friendly and apologetic, but it should not have taken almost two hours for dinner.

My sister and I took my mother who has alzheimers out for the day and wanted to try somewhere new. I had heard good things about the place so we tried. So glad we did. Our server Chelsea was outstanding. She was friendly and warm and made us feel right at home. The mushroom soup was great and the fish sandwich was very crispy. We will definitely be back!

I have to agree this is a hidden gem. The portions are large and the service was excellent. I had perogies which were delicious and my wife had the quesadilla. Warning the portions was extra large. Really tasty. I highly recommend

What a great find! Visiting and just googled food near me and found this gem. Service was great! Didn’t wait long before hot food was served. Pretzel sticks are warm, crispy outside and soft/chewy inside, yum! French onion soup, my heaven! Yum! Perfectly seasoned! Burgers are nice, texture is great, need a little bit more seasoning but it’s good if you like natural flavor. I’m happy with my meal there. I’ll visit next time when I’m back!

Came in and thought about getting a burger. Asked the bartender if she thought they were good. I was disapponted when she replied with “it’s just a burger”. It seemed dismissive. I was hoping she would take the opportunity to give a recommendation, but instead felt brushed off for asking.
The service tainted the experience. Food was decent.

Pierogies were fantastic, potato pancakes and bratwurst were great. Our server Joan went above and beyond in making sure we had a pleasurable experience! Thanks to her hospitality and the food being wonderful we will be returning and recommending. Had to give 4 stars for the dining area was not the most inviting, but Joan’s service made up for that greatly!

Tavern In The Hills, hidden on a hill down a two-lane residential road, can be easy to miss if you are not looking for it. However, you should not do that, for this place is a hidden gem. We started with the Bavarian Pretzel Sticks, which were good. Then, we got our entrees. I got the BBQ Pork Pierogies, as I wanted to try some pierogies, which Pittsburgh is known for, while my brother got the Tavern Quesadillas. My BBQ Pork Pierogies were savory and delicious, and my brother enjoyed his Tavern Quesadillas. In short, Tavern In The Hills is a hidden gem and I strongly recommend it.

First timer here. I had the Polish Platter. Kielbasa, pierogies, and Kraut. Loved it. Grew up in West Elizabeth and stopped in at the tavern. Great place. Highly recommended!
