We found the restaurant on TikTok, and it was an absolute amazing experience! The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried exceeded expectations. The service was just as impressive. Hector is the best— friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. You can really tell the staff cares about creating a great dining experience. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back if we ever are in San Diego area again.

loveee this place, they had a good variety of chilaquiles and they were all delicious as well as the drinks. the atmosphere is nice & the inside is so gorgeous, the servers were very kind too. I loved everything about this place, be sure to make reservations unless you want to stand outside and wait but aside from that, i give it a 10/10 !!

It’s very pleasant and bright. Some unique food options. Very clean location and it is great to be able to see the kitchen from entrance. The surrounding area is very pretty and perfect for strolling. Absolutely recommend.

Cocina 35 Brunch was 100% worth the ~20 minute in line. First off I just wanna say all of their staff did an excellent job at making us feel welcomed. Jesi, in particular, made the entire experience much more worth while. She was attentive, so kind, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Jesie even made sure my friend got his eggs once they disappeared into the massive chilaquiles plate.

“Best Chilaquiles in town” is right! Best I have ever had by far and that’s because they were actually crispy and not overly spicy. I ordered the Al Pastor chilaquiles which came with cubed pineapple to balance out any spice of habanero, Serrano, and jalapenos. Next time I may ask for salsa on side because it really wasn’t spicy at all, but maybe that’s just me. The plate with smashed beans hiding under the massive portion of chilaquiles. For $20 I could have easily split this plate because it was just such a huge portion, worth every penny! I ordered the Mimosa flight and my friend the Agua Fresca flight, so good! I will definitely be back to share this unique with friends and family.

The decor inside is so aesthetically pleasing. From the Japanese cherry blossom tree directly above us to the vibrant decor every where including the restroom!

This is a great spot for birthday celebrations as they will make that occasion feel extra pleasing with their vibrant vibe and engaging the entire restaurant in participating.

A pro tip is, make a reservation online as you will get seated sooner. We waited in line for a little while until I figured out I could reserve a table while in line on their ‘open table’ website. After that we jumped first in line into the reservation line and were seated within 2 minutes.

Thank you Cocina 35 and Gracias también a ti Jesi!

First time here, heard good things about this place. I tried the el patron sampler which came with verde chilaquiles and Mexican French toast. It came with eggs and beans. I added carne asada to the chilaquiles and it was delicious. Everything was good and would recommend it. They have mimosa flights if you like alcohol. Give this place a try.

We took my sister here to celebrate her birthday, and Cocina 35 truly exceeded our expectations! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful—warm, inviting, and full of character. The music added so much vibrance to the experience, creating the perfect backdrop for a celebratory meal.

And the food… absolutely delicious. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavor and felt thoughtfully prepared.

On top of that, the service was nothing short of spectacular. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our visit. We especially loved Flor!

Cocina 35 made my sister’s birthday feel extra special, and we left already talking about when we’d be back. Highly recommended!

Finally got to try this place and I’m so glad I did! I was excited to have a weekday off since they tend to get pretty busy on weekends. We tried a couple of their popular chilaquiles and they were so good! Definitely recommend adding eggs, it makes them extra special. I also loved their coffee, friendly service, and the cozy atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!

Cocina 35 has an extensive chilaquiles menu, and the build-your-own option is the way to go. We ordered the carne asada, which was overcooked but still well seasoned. The salsa verde and chipotle crema were both flavorful with a mild, lingering heat.

They do not offer a full bar, so you’re limited to the drinks listed on the menu. We asked if the bartender could make a dirty martini without vermouth (vodka, olive juice, and ice) and serve it with a side of Bloody Mary juice, which we were told was available (they only carry michelada juice). The bartender responded in a rude and dismissive manner and avoided eye contact. Our server eventually brought the manager, who accommodated the request, though he mentioned that pairing a martini with michelada juice likely wouldn’t be an option in the future. We also learned that the “fresh” juice flight is not made in-house and contains added sugars.

Overall, chilaquiles are what Cocina 35 does best, but that specific bartenders service and beverage options leave room for improvement.

This review is for the new way they handle service. They now push reservations (which fair, you weren’t able to make reservations on the weekend before so that’s nice) but the walk-ins have become a disaster.

You are not able to join a virtual queue or get on their list in-person. You have to physically wait in line for your turn with no ETA and since they have so many reservations, a table probably open while you’re standing there. They used to be able to do bar seating for individual people but now groups and bar seating are in the same queue. They don’t check-in on the line so I don’t know how they keep track of who is waiting in the line.

I think that if they want reservations only, they should just say that and not even have a walk-in line so people don’t waste their time waiting hours in a line that won’t move. Or they need to open a virtual queue again or allow people to join a list in-person so they can walk around or do literally anything else but wait in a line in direct sunlight.

I personally waited 15 min to see if bar seating opened up before giving up.

All this to say, I really don’t recommend coming here unless you have a reservation.

I should point out, I have been a loyal Cocina 35 customer since their early days when they only had 1-2 locations and I can vouch for their amazing food. My favorite are the green chilaquiles with carnitas. Their fresh aguas are amazing and so is their hot chocolate. But idk if it’s worth the walk-in line.

I’m posting a picture of my $31 meal…I’ve been waiting for so long to try this place. I love chilaquiles, and so many people have said that this place had the best. I was very disappointed…very little sauce, it has no flavor, the eggs were tasteless too…the coffee is delicious, I had way too much of that to compensate!!

I will say that I’m giving them 4 stars because of the service, everyone was very nice, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant is clean, and pleasant. I’m hopeful that it was just a bad morning l, but I will not be coming back…
