With the opening of Taverna, Platinum Dining Group brings to life its highly anticipated version of the “neighborhood gathering place.” Inspired by both the casual watering holes and belly-warming kitchens found within homes all throughout Italy, Taverna suggests a rural approach to refined Italian cooking.
Rustic and simple in conception but well crafted and high minded in execution, Taverna brings a casual sophistication that sees reclaimed wood and exposed brick on the wall. Polished marble rest atop the overstretched bar which boasts eighteen draft beers and the state’s first-ever “tapped wine” system.

Pleasant environment, exceptional service. Food was not up to the expectations. We had as starters arancini and calamari. What was called arancini were not at all so. You cannot consider an Italian restaurant a establishment that serves food, although not bad in taste, named after something that is totally different. The calamari were considerably small, but not bad. The pizza crust was pretty dry. Toppings were good. It can be a much better place with some improvements.
P.S. As per your menu, carbonara does NOT have bacon, does NOT have parmigiano, does NOT have peas, the only thing right was spaghetti. Don’t forget the eggs

I really don’t understand why this place has a 4 star rating. It should be 5 star for sure. The food, service and ambience is amazing. Good veg and non veg options and you can customize the pasta or pizza if you don’t like anything. The spicy shrimp is my favorite.

We love Taverna. However, last night we did not have a great experience. Food and service were great. Thanks, Riley. We had a reservation. We got there a few minutes early and could hardly even get into the restaurant. I don’t know what happened but we waited more than 30 minutes past our time. The explanation was that everyone standing around had a reservation. So, I am wondering if they took a lot of walk ins and decided all of us who planned ahead could just wait. The three people at the front desk seemed to have no idea what was going on. We will probably come back but hopefully they will honor it when they take reservations. No one should have to wait over half an hour past their reservation.

We stumbled upon this restaurant while driving towards another restaurant. Figured we give it a shot. This restaurant is very spacious with in-door & outdoor seatings. Decor was nice with open kitchen concept. Parking was easy when we went there. Staffs were wonderful & friendly! The food was very good! The complimentary bread dip was very good! Our kids really liked it. We ordered an entree for our daughters to split and the staffs brought out 2 dishes split up already for us. So that was a very nice touch! Our pasta dishes tasted pretty authentic & seems to be made in-house, which we like. All in all, we’ll definitely be back again to try other dishes on their menu. ️

Had dinner last night. Nice atmosphere, staff were polite, and friendly. Ordered an app, which was nice, but my meal which started out good, ended up being disappointing. I ordered the chicken parm. It was dark, too dark and a bit overcooked. They need to change that oil. The mozzarella cheese I had to scrape off. It was like chewing gum. First time I have had mozzarella like that, I have to say. My husband enjoyed his meal though, as well as our friend so atleast they had fabulous meals. – A disappointed Italian

Great experience overall. Food was delicious. I had the Rigatoni and sausage. Highly recommend it! Our server was a bit slower than expected so that could use improvement. He also seemed a little young or inexperienced. Other than that, great atmosphere and experience.

While the service and atmosphere is amazing, I’ll have to say the food is inconsistent at times. We came and tried the fettuccine alfredo and spaghetti about two years ago, and while my spaghetti was absolutely amazing, the fettuccine alfredo sauce was thick like glue and frankly was not good at all. I decided to give it another shot recently and I decided to order this spaghetti again. This time the recipe had changed completely, and it wasn’t as flavorful as I remember it being the first time. Now the bread that they serve with the tomato pesto dipping sauce was amazing back then and it’s still amazing now. But based on the inconsistency of not knowing what I’m going to get when I come to this restaurant is why I rated it three stars. If the food was more consistent, I would definitely come here more often because it really is a very nice atmosphere and service has always been amazing.

A must visit in Delaware
Taverna Rustic was such a great restaurant and one of the best I have been to Delaware. We were taken care of by Sloane who was amazing and took care of us from start to finish.
She recommended us some drinks and some of the restaurants most ordered dishes. She continuously came to check if the food was to our liking and if we were enjoying our meals. Thank so much Sloane for taking care of us and giving us one of the best experiences here in Delaware!
Not only was the service phenomenal but the food/drinks were delicious. Definitely book this restaurant for lunch/dinner and mark it as a must visit!

Made reservations a week ago for a party of 8 for Nov 30, for my husband’s birthday. We arrive and the tables are not set and had to be moved before we were seated, they put us in front of the kitchen, the manager came over because our server wasn’t there yet (he did a drink order). We get our drinks and I had to ask our server for a menu to order apps for the table. We ordered and get our appetizers and I have to ask to refill water glasses. Finally our entree orders are taken and I had to ask to clear the table of the empty dishes. The best part of the dinner were the appetizers….the bread and sun dried tomato dip was delicious (note would be better if bread was warmed), the grilled artichokes and the calamari were to die for. We ordered 2 pizzas and 6 entrees. The carbonara was too buttery tasting (no taste of pecorino cheese), and the broccoli rabe was terribly bitter. We finished dinner and we had to locate our server to clear the table and bring the cake out. Finally , the server brings the check, the server walks away, I sign it and WAIT. She never comes back. I finally took the signed invoice up to the manager at the hostess stand, he thanked me and we left the restaurant. Suddenly our server comes running out of the restaurant yelling we didn’t pay! I said “yes we did, I waited and finally gave it to your boss”!
Don’t know if we will return to this restaurant, the servers need to be trained and more attentive. With a party of 8 there should have been 2 servers, it would have been a great tip, but now I’m sorry I tipped at all! How embarrassing was it that she came out and yelled in the parking lot that I didn’t pay. ☹️

Dinner with Bestie. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the food, but as always the company was amazing! Not sure I’d go back, which is disappointing given bc its other platinum dining locations are some of my favorites such as Eclipse and Capers and Lemons. Had high hopes here.
Atmosphere
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- was beautiful and comfortable and clean.
Waitress
⭐️⭐️⭐️- was attentive overall, however when she asked how the food was and I told her my noodles were undercooked and sauce was soupy she gave a look then walked away. She literally said nothing and did nothing. Quite disappointing. I liked that they bagged your left overs, but not that they just hand you a container with no carry bag. (Cringe)
FOOD
⭐️⭐️⭐️Bread with dipping oil – bread Was soft (not warm)oil was tasty (Complimentary)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ FRIED MOZZARELLA
– Delish and crispy in a very good marinara with fresh parm on top (love fresh)
⭐️⭐️ SHELLS AURORA
organic chicken tossed with spinach in Taverna tomato-cream sauce, shell pasta
– sauce lacked flavor and was soupy, shells were way too undercooked, chicken was overcooked and dry, counted about 5 leaves of spinach… ehhh. Given other revered pictures mine was deff off.
⭐️GNOCCHI GENOVESE
basil pesto, parmigiano
– Gnocci was mushy, no density which it should be. Sauce was soupy as well. Jess didn’t eat it.
