Delicious and underrated place. We went on a Saturday at 3pm and were the only ones there, which was calm, yet I wish more people would go and try their dishes! I was not expecting my tea to be served cold, but it was probably one of the best I’ve had. The music they were playing at the time was cool too 🙂

If you like Japanese curry you gotta check out Tanuki Curry House. I was delighted to find that their food was fresh and excellent and the atmosphere was enchanting. The place is decorated with a ton of Miyazaki type art and the staff is super nice! I got two orders of curry and two Sapporos which I heavily enjoyed. I’ll probably come back when I’m in the mood for Japanese curry again.

We came here about two weeks after they opened and it seems to still be a soft launch as the space was still being organized, it seems that the staff is still going thru some training and other details like the QR to pay not working bc theres no phone service in the area but they don’t have wifi handy. I’ll come back when they have finished setting up the place and there’s more attention to detail.

I agree with others Pork & Chicken katsu was cooked very well but the curry was just okay. The curry noodles seemed to be a little watered down. The lumpia dipping sauce was a mix of curry and sweet & sour sauce. I was hoping this could be a place nearby comparable to the curry houses of little Tokyo. Everything was good but I expected a little more. I’ll come back tho!

This place is amazing, the atmosphere, the decorations, it’s cute and hip and open. The good OMG, where do I begin? I ordered the agedashi tofu, the spicy garlic edamames for appetizers and the vegetables curry.
Everything was delicious. Great flavors, textures, everything was perfect. Fast delivery, cortious and polite service and the owners very nice people. An 11 of of 10 for sure! Highly recommended!

I ordered Katsudon and katsu curry. I am Japanese, and I believe this restaurant serves some of the best-tasting Japanese dishes you can get in Japan. I was completely satisfied. I wish I had known about this restaurant sooner.

The katsu curry was like eating a cloud made of chicken. The curry was nice and subtle yet complex. A must recommend if you like Japanese katsu curry this has to be the best in Long Beach

The food was good and the servers were nice and attentive! I got the chicken katsu curry and enjoyed it. The curry was a bit spicy which was a nice surprise and the chicken katsu was nice and juicy not dried out!

The staff were friendly and welcoming, but the food was disappointing for a restaurant that’s been open for almost a year. The tempura was okay but too thin and not very appealing to look at. The bento box had too many vegetables compared to the tempura and chicken, and most of the rice dishes had very little chicken or beef and way too much rice. The utensils were also dirty, and the food took a long time to be served even though there were only two of us and no other customers. I really hope the restaurant can improve.

The shrimp tempura was cooked perfectly, light airy and consistent
The beef teriyaki plate had very tender meat and had good flavor.
The chicken Katsu was cooked well. It was Also, light and airy as well as crunchy.
My girlfriend thought the curry was great I thought it was good, solid. She did add the spice available there.
Atmosphere is really cool. The prices are pretty competitive.
My Girl friend thought it was a little bit of a small serving of rice . I thought it was just enough
Overall 5 stars worth a try.
