Came early (4 of us) on a Friday evening without reservations and were fortunately able to get seated.

Our server Salene was a delight – friendly and attentive.

Food was fresh, quality and presented simply. I appreciate the simple menu – limited to focus on a few quality items.

My son commented that this was the best chicken parmigiana he’s ever had – thinly pounded, breading had integrity and stayed on the breast, and delicious sauce.

Happy to see vegan friendly options for one of our party.

We all enjoyed our meals but sadly had no room for dessert!

This is my second time here and we could not be more pleased. Feels like a small family Italian restaurant—the owner greeted us by name and welcomed us back. The food was amazing again, just as fresh and flavorful as the first time. From the perfectly cooked pasta to the rich, homemade sauces, everything was delicious. The staff was warm and attentive. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Wonderful, welcoming service. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. The ambiance was lovely and intimate. The patio and interior dining area are decorated nicely. The food was delicious, well made. We had a nice bottle of wine, meatball appetizer, fresh pasta dishes and well made dessert. Tiramisu was perfectly moist and not too sweet. My boyfriend loved the meatballs and his lasagna. We loved every dish, the service and the atmosphere. We will be returning.

Everything about this place was great. The atmosphere is very cozy, dim lights, nice for a romantic date. I’ve been here twice and have had a great time. The workers are friendly and very attentive. We come from Charlotte, NC so we wanted quality food We had the pleasure of meeting Reza there and he was just such a wonderful time. After a year he still remembered us which was very sweet of him. I got the Caesar salad and lobster and crab ravioli and it was all very good. 10/10 recommend 🙂

Capa Tosta is such a cozy and inviting spot. The food is fresh, flavorful, and feels thoughtfully prepared. I especially enjoyed the pasta—it was perfectly cooked and full of taste. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the meal even more enjoyable. It’s a lovely place for a relaxed, delicious dinner, and I’d definitely return.

The restaurant has a charming atmosphere, but the food falls short. The calamari was dry and overcooked, pretty much inedible. The lasagna and mussels lacked much flavor. The service was fine, but overall, there’s no strong reason to come back.

Hi! I’m Italian, have been raised on homemade pastas and sauces, have spent time in Italy, and the cuisine my fam most often goes out to eat in the U.S. is Italian. So if you’re in the same boat and are very critical of Italian, I hope my review helps you decide between Capa Tosta and other [better] options in the district:

Capa Tosta has lovely vibes outside on the patio, and they even have a special on Tuesdays and Wednesdays where you can get a bottle of wine if you buy dinner for two. If you take advantage of this and also get the Chicken Parm, you will be pleased. However, in general, for other dishes, I would NOT recommend this restaurant for authentic and flavorful Italian food and am shocked to see its current rating is so high.

The bread they bring out was not good. Was not warm, did not have any pizazz, did not taste particularly fresh — reminiscent of of a thin sliced Italian bread loaf I’d get pre-cut from a Walmart Deli.

I was trying to decide between ravioli and gnocchi, and settled on the Gnocchi Sorrento. The burrata on top was great – that was the only praise-worthy thing about this dish. If you are familiar with gnocchi, a high-quality gnocchi,  should be tender, soft, and delicate – almost melting in your mouth – rather than tough or chewy. If the melt-in-mouth quality is a 10, and tough and chewy is a 1 – I’d say this was a 4 or 5. If the texture on a gnocchi is a let-down, at least a superb sauce can be a redeeming quality of a dish. However, this was yet another ding: There was another review that mentioned the sauce tasted cheap and jarred. I 100% echo that. The “San Marzano” tomato sauce was the blandest red sauce I’ve ever had. Lacked any flavor or complexity. I didn’t even bother finishing my dish, as I had deemed it a sheer waste of calories — I thought I was being overly critical, so had my German partner try it and his words were “wow, this is an absolute joke – I don’t want to eat it either”.

My mom was also disappointed with her Chicken Marsala and said although the chicken was cooked well, the dish lacked flavor, even with extra Marsala sauce. My partner and dad were pleased with their Chicken Parms and thought they were excellent, which jives with the other reviews – hence why I think this is the only dish I’d recommend. It also comes with a vodka sauce — when I had bites of my partner’s pasta that came with his chicken parm, this sauce was much better than my San Marzano tomato sauce.

Service was good. You could tell the wait staff were really trying to be friendly, warm and welcoming — which they did well — but we weren’t particularly impressed by their skill.

FYI – The credit card you put down to make a $50 reservation for a party of 4+ automatically gets used for the entire tab, without even asking/confirming with the patron first. When I booked it said “Due to our limited seating and demand, we require a $50 refundable deposit to confirm your reservation. This security deposit is only non-refundable if you cancel under 24-hours” — was not aware they wouldn’t ask to apply it to the tab, or use for the whole tab. When we complained about it (my parents were in town and treating me to dinner for my bday) the staff was very sweet to try to make it better with dessert (The tiramisu was great). I gave an extra star for service because of their attempts to atone the issue, but still feel so strongly about the low quality of the food that I regret to be leaving an altogether low review regardless.

Popped into Capa Tosta in Pleasant Plains and left impressed. Cozy spot with dim lights, a chill vibe, and food that hits. The chicken parmigiana is big, cheesy, and totally satisfying; the lobster & crab ravioli was rich without being overkill.

Starters like the Frito Misto (think crispy calamari + shrimp + zucchini) are perfect for sharing, and dessert really seals the deal — the tiramisu is solid. Drinks are well mixed, the service friendly, though can be a bit slow when it’s full.

Great for a date night or catching up with friends. Not ultra-cheap, but you get what you pay for. Would 100% go back.

This place is really nice, great date night spot. Service was slower than what I’m use to seeing in my staff. It may be a southern hospitality thing but I didn’t know the servers name until I saw it in the check. So I couldn’t call him for anything. Drinks were great, nice balance, good flavor a little stronger. Food was hit or miss. Partner had Chicken Parm and was it wonderful. I had the gnocchi and the pasta itself was great but the sauce tasted cheap as if it was store bought. I put the atmosphere at a 4 as there were servers just standing about and what appeared to be guests going to the kitchen which isn’t nice when you’re right next to the kitchen.

Have visited this place a few times and it is always jaw droppingly delicious. The Frito Misto is a must have appetizer! Their pastas are amazing, with the best Italian sausage and chicken – so tender and flavorful. Their cocktails are delicious too! On top of the amazing food is top tier service.
Will be back, and back often!
