Great place to get a grandma cooked original breakfast. This home cooked style restaurant gives you plenty of food for your money…they even serve kool-aid. They give you toast which is perfect with the meals. No matter where you from or where you at…you must visit this westside montgomery establishment trust me you will not regret it…mind your business be respectful and enjoy your breakfast…

Would return for pickup. The chicken wings were small but, flavorful. The pancakes were tasty even though rushed. The scrambled eggs were tasty. Although, I felt rushed(it was 45 mins before closing) and the prices didn’t necessarily reflect the plate size and lack of drink options… I would give it another try.

First time visiting and the food was delicious. The owner, Mr. Larry came out from the back to greet and welcome to his establishment. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. I will definitely visit BG’s again.

If you aren’t local the drive in xan be intimidating, but it’s well worth it!
This is good southern cooking, not tourist hype!
Ate catfish with cheese grits and shrimp and grits… so good!!!! Wish we found this before our last day in town!!
They have every flavor of kool-aid and it was made exactly as it should be!

BG’s Grille puts the “OH!!!” in Soul Food! Vegetarians need not stop by, but if you venture out into west Montgomery—hungry for a home-cooked breakfast meal or fried meats extravaganza, look no further than Barbara Gail’s. Kind, attentive customer service makes up for the unique hours of operation and even more creative parking options. Located at the intersection of Early and Oak streets, you won’t have to walk far, but bring your cash, please! (They take cards, but they don’t advertise it.) Cash is preferred. This place is all flavor….and they don’t hold back on the way they prepare it. It’s like you remember breakfasts being at your Big Mama’s house on Sunday mornings….maybe better. (Big Mama was my grandmother’s name!) Definitely worth a try, but I promise you’ll be back again. (Reminder! This is NOT an eat-in restaurant, so everything served is “to-go.”)

Visiting Montgomery AL and found this local restaurant. Building looks terrible, I could not find the sanitation grade. We sat at the counter and ate while swaddling flies. Food was quick and good then later that evening stomach pain really bad. I had the bacon, pork sausage, eggs and grits and my husband pancakes, fried chicken and eggs. Won’t be visiting again.

Goodness gracious, the food was spectacular, asked for a cat fish platter couldn’t even close the damn lid, and they got homemade kool-aid, neighborhood is a little sketchy, but worth it for the food.

I live out of state, and every time we come to Montgomery our first stop from the airport and last stop before we leave is BARBARA GAIL’S!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!! The shrimp & grits are a must !! They now except credit and debit. And as an added bonus, the street they are located on is part of the historic route from The March From Selma. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. , Rev. Jesse Jackson, and civil rights leader John Lewis were among the leaders who participated in the march.
