I opted for the dinner set because there’s so many options but this was the best balance of trying different things at a fixed price.

My favorite was the potato salad which came in a sphere shape and you’re supposed cut it in half with a spoon, mix and mash it altogether. There’s like a preserved egg yolks with ikura, potato as the outer layer and seasoning. It’s definitely creative and fun. Next on my favorite was the tempura. Perfectly fried and the veggies/ seafood they used was crisp. Love that they provided different types of salt.

The tuna cuts weren’t my favorite because the way it was cut, there was lots of tendon making it hard to chew. The stir fries soba was tasty and filling (and a bit greasy) But otherwise, I really enjoyed my set dinner menu.

Service was attentive though I felt like my waitress was a bit rude at first when we ordered – like she was fed up about something. She came around later, rest of the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Stopped by for a late lunch (right when dinner started) , the sushi was prepared very quickly and the tasted pretty fresh. I really enjoy the experience and I am expecting to come back, the price was little pricy, but not unexpected for good sushi

They accidentally gave us an extra order, but gave no issue on not charging us. Overall a good experience

Straightforward and delicious sushi. Lots of places don’t have toro so pleased to find Sakabyashi Sushi Tavern. The cuts were not perfect but the fish was legit. Definitely coming back for more tuna! Space was new and clean. Service was great. Perfect place for solid sushi and a good selection.

The best, most affordable high quality sushi I’ve had. Love love love their unique rice. Their lunch course menu is probably the best deal you can get in town. Wish I had more pictures of the food we ate but all of us were too busy scarfing down our food.

Disappointed. Food was not fresh. Uni and scallops had an odd taste. The tuna tartare reminds me of mashed potatoes. Everything was mushy you can’t tell what you are eating. The bread was soft and warm though.

Presentation felt like you went to Kura. The fish was sliced incorrectly and tendons were so thick that you can’t even chew through it. We ordered appetizers and they came after we finish our meal. Service was extremely slow, we even forgot an order and almost left.

There isn’t a word to describe how amazing the quality was at this place. You truly get more than what you pay for. The food came out incredibly fast—just minutes after ordering. We ordered a variety of hand rolls, sushi, takoyaki, and fries (do yourself a favor and get the fries). The toro was perfectly seasoned and didn’t even need soy sauce.

The service was just as impressive. We didn’t have just one waiter—every staff member helped us, whether it was bringing food to the table or clearing plates. Overall, this was an easy 5-star experience, and we will definitely be returning.

The sushi at Sakabayashi is fresh and presented really nicely! The staff are friendly, bathroom is clean, and the food was served fast. The atmosphere was cozy and reminded me of a restaurant I would find in Japan. 10/10 experience just the crunchy tuna roll rice was a bit hard for my liking.

Worst experience at a restaurant – EVER! I never posted a one star review, but this was an exception.

When my husband and I arrived, we saw a few parties waiting in line, and there was no one at the reception desk, so when I saw a waitress passing by, I took the chance to tell her that we had a reservation, and she immediately gave me an attitude like I was rushing her.

Then the manager showed us our table, and told us that there was no salmon left, so no salmon dish was available to order. It was 7pm on a weekend. Half of their menu is salmon and there was none left. No apologies whatsoever.

We then ordered a nigiri combo, a sushi roll, and a hand roll. 2 minutes later the waiter came back saying that the kitchen had stopped making BOTH sushi and hand rolls, which means there were virtually nothing left on the sushi menu that we could order. No reason given, and when we asked whether it would be resumed, they couldn’t give an answer either.

We wanted to leave but it was already late and we didn’t want to spend 30 minutes waiting for a table somewhere else, so we picked whatever was left. Another 10 minutes passed and the kitchen started serving rolls again! We would’ve been willing to wait to order the rolls but ended up having to switch to things we didn’t really want because they couldn’t figure out what was going on in their kitchen.

We picked the place because they have such an interesting sushi menu, and we left utterly disappointed with the whole experience. The food was okay, and I was even willing to give it another chance to try out the salmon menu next time, but the whole debacle with the kitchen arbitrarily stopped and then resumed to do their work and the failure to communicate properly ended any hope I had left for this place.

Definitely not recommended, especially on weekends or busy time because they are so unprepared and unprofessional.

With a restaurant warning to cancel reservations after 15 minutes and charge a no-show fee, they should have shown the same courtesy and offered a better service.

Amazing sushi quality! Every piece feels fresh and uniquely prepared. Not to mention the visually pleasant presentation as well. It’s my first time, and I’m completely happy to try it out

Staff were very friendly and accommodating- we had a party of 3 adults and 4 children between the ages of 2 to 7. Food was really good – portions are smaller. Most rolls are 4 pieces versus 6. Everything tasted fresh. The only complaint I would have is the food is a little salty for my preferences but this is subjective. The ramen was very flavorful and tasty. Would go again.
