Appetizers we tried:
• Kani salad – really good
• Chicken gyoza – AMAZING, favorite appetizer
• Shrimp tempura – had potential, but came cold and the sauce lacked flavor
• Crispy calamari – cold and drenched in a sauce that tasted more like BBQ than eel sauce
• Crab meat tempura – surprisingly good
• Chicken katsu – good base, but overwhelmed by sauce
• Fried oysters – delicious without the sauce
• Miso soup – okay, but missing flavor
I think a lot of the appetizers would be better if sauces were lighter or served on the side.
Sushi (immaculate):
• Shrimp tempura roll
• Spicy crab roll ⭐️ (one of my favorites)
• Rock n Roll roll (great if you love smoked salmon)
• Sweet potato roll ⭐️ (crispy, perfect, to die for)
• Avocado cucumber roll
• Pom Pom roll ⭐️
• Dragon roll
Service started off phenomenal, but once the rush hit it slowed down a lot. It took much longer for staff to come back to our table. We ordered drinks that never came (one server said they were put in, another asked “what drinks?” — it happens, no big deal). By the time dessert rolled around, we were freezing and had waited long enough that we decided to skip it.
All in all, we’d 100% come back for the sushi and chicken gyoza. The sushi alone makes it worth it.
And their sushi. Wow. It’s so fresh, and so filling, I am full after 3 rolls. Their rolls are jam packed with ingredients and beyond tasty, and I love their ice cream as well. Def a new fave sushi spot of mine in CT.
Update: July 22,2023. Still the best sushi I have ever had! Attentive staff, calm atmosphere, the AYCE menu is a bargain for sushi lovers. Tuesday through Thursday drink specials for those looking for even more of a bargain. Not just for sushi lovers, though. Ton Katsu is still my daughter’s favorite. Extensive menu but not overwhelming. Can not recommend this place enough!
Hot food came to table cold. Probably won’t be going back. The building is strange. Very nice staff,
The quality vs cost ratio is outstanding.
Family of 4 for as much as a McDonald’s meal for a family of 4.
Absolutely coming back.
