We came for the Valentine’s Day event and we were not disappointed! My only complaint was that we got seated late because we were the last group of the night, but it was worth it. This was my 2nd time eating here and every dish was different from the last visit and so delicious. The setting was fun and getting each dish dropped felt like a mini event. Do yourself a favor and get a little bit of everything, especially if you’re dining with others. Service was excellent and friendly. Vegan italian food exists and when it’s done right it’s magic! (How do y’all get the perfect crust on your fried items?! Tell me your secrets!)

Vegan Carbonara and the Spicy Orecchiette Alfredo!! Classics made vegan. Get the fried mushrooms too, and pair with a rosemary infused Italian soda. The owner is from Italy, and the food exceeds all expectations of a classic, authentic feeling while you’re eating. It tastes like love.

I was very excited to finally try this place and they had some lunch specials.
We were a little disappointed.
There was one other table for lunch and us.
Lunch prices are not very lunch priced but I was ok with that expecting some amazing pasta.
My friend ordered the carbonara which was like $25-27 and it was not good. There was bits of scrambled eggs in the sauce.

I ordered the lunch Alfredo mushroom which looked amazing but damn it was salty!
Made my friend try it and it was even salty for her.
I wasn’t going to say anything but I did and they gladly remade it.
It was definitely less salty. But now it had no flavor.
I took 2 bites and asked for it to go.
The server was super friendly but I would not recommend this place for lunch if you are on a time limit.
The salad was good.
It wasnt horrible at all, they probably just had an off day

We came to try the bolognese and they didn’t have any! This is probably when we should have left and came back another day!

As a dedicated carinvore and lover of Italian food I was a suspicious of a full vegan restaurant, but the food at Lilla knocked it out of the park!
The foccacia is made in house and is everything it should be. Light and pillowy, the dough tastes amazing and is served lightly grilled. For an entree I tried the new Chicken Parm. It was made with a soy-based product that was breaded and fried to delicious crispy perfection. I wouldn’t have known it was vegan if I had been told. The noodles are also house made and the chef cooked them perfectly al dente. For dessert I had the olive oil cake. It was dense and flavorful, topped with a strawberry reduction that made me want to lick the plate.
Can’t wait to go back and try their pizza.
Lilla- if you know you know!

Wow! We were delighted by every dish, so well balanced and flavored. The beet salad was a particular highlight, with perfectly sweet beets and fresh greens. We also had a pasta dish with an artichoke sauce that had an amazing balance of flavors with surprising herbs here and there, just lovely— and ending the night with the olive oil orange cake is a must. It was all so so good it’s hard to overstate. The literal only critique I have is lighting — for night time service having lights that aren’t as bright to set a more apt mood for food and service this good would make this a 10/10 perfect experience.

As someone newly needing to find dairy and soy free options, Lilla exceeded my expectations. The food was fantastic. Server Belle was friendly and helpful.
We tried Focaccia, spicy Alfredo pasta, potato and leek pizza and the orange olive oil cake.

Very overpriced for the proportions. They label the receipts, citing that the food cost reflects higher employee wages since they don’t accept tips. The food was also not very good. The focaccia was burnt, the carbonara tasted exclusively like liquid smoke, any other flavors were completely overwhelmed. The Kale Alfredo was soso, I order it at the spiciest level and it still barely had any flavor, the mushrooms overtook the sauce which had no hint of cheese at all. I get that it’s vegan but if you gonna advertise Alfredo it better still taste like Alfredo, but at least it was still edible unlike the carbonara. The orange cake was tiny like 2/3 bites for $11, and it mostly tasted like cornbread…….. 2/10 would not recommend. At All.

I was really excited for a vegan Italian restaurant. It’s cozy and nice looking. The service was good. The food was disappointing. The chicken Parm tasted nice but not the pasta that came with it. The risotto was warm at best and lacked any flavor. No one in our group of the really enjoyed the food. Please keep trying! I want to give it another taste.

Our family had a great experience at Lilla with the wonderfully personable Abby! Yes, the food was awesome! Yes the butternut squash soup too! And even the Italian soda too. Abby nailed it though and she and my 8 year old left the place with hugs because they both made such a fond connection. Fair warning about the soup; you’re going to want that bigger bowl. It’s too good to have only a little! The meatball sub’s TVP base tasted a bit like field roast though better. The orecchiette pastas had good flavor. It’s not one I’ve tried in the past so I will say if the noodle isn’t supposed to be a bit chewy then ours may have been cooked or made differently than usual. Most pastas I’ve tried are less chewy though. The atmosphere inside is really nice. The decor and lighting made for a good ambiance. The focaccia bread with the olive oil and vinegar were also very good. I definitely would have wanted a whole basket full of it instead of only 3 slices but the price for those 3 made that a choice I opted out of sadly. I should also say that there was parking at Lilla itself where it can otherwise be a challenge to find at some Portland places in the area. It gave some extra peace of mind to be able to keep an eye on things as well. Thank you Abby and thank you Lilla for a great time and great food!

I’m not vegan and I’ve never tried vegan Italian food before, but Lilla really impressed me! Everything we ordered was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. We tried the potato croquettes, eggplant tower, and the sun dried tomato pesto and spicy Alfredo pastas. We enjoyed every dish (especially the sun dried tomato pasta!!) and I honestly didn’t miss the dairy at all.

We tried the orange and olive oil cake and the affogato for dessert. The olive oil cake was my personal favorite and I’m still thinking about it!

Lilla completely changed the way I think about vegan food. Wonderful service to top it off, you can definitely tell the staff are treated well. We will be back!
