Tucked away in London, Viet is one of those rare places you almost want to keep to yourself.

This small open-kitchen, family-run restaurant proves that great food doesn’t need flash — just care, precision, and heart. The sons run the kitchen while their mother oversees everything behind the scenes, from cleanliness and ingredient prep to final taste checks. That dedication shows in every detail — even the bean sprouts are carefully trimmed.

Rather than a huge menu, Viet focuses on essential Vietnamese classics done right. Every dish is clean, balanced, and incredibly fresh.

⭐ The highlight: the beef salad. Bright, perfectly seasoned, and deeply satisfying — easily the best I’ve had anywhere. After trying Vietnamese restaurants across London from east to north, nothing comes close to the clean, refined flavours here.

I’ve been coming for nearly 20 years, and amazingly, the prices have barely changed. The value is so good it almost makes you feel guilty.

Service is warm without being overbearing — never too much, never unfriendly.

Honestly, better than many meals I’ve had in Vietnam itself. A true hidden gem built on family pride and consistency.

Looking for some place to eat after an afternoon on the Cinema, we came across Viet Soho, it was busy, but we were seated within a couple of minutes. The menu was concise and had a good range of dishes. We order our usual Vietnamese Pancake, noodles and rice dishes. All came out in good time and the waiter did say it would a little later as the kitchen was busy. The rice dish came out and. it wasn’t as big as I expected! how much is bag of rice. Don’t get me wrong, I have had cheaper lunch that had a more sizeable portion, for what you are paying. Putting the size of the dish to one side the dish was fine and tasty, did it fill me up, not really – even after the pancake as a starter. The noodle soup dish was the highlight, great tasty broth and a good size portion of noodles and meats. I should have gone for this! We order Jasmine tea and they were happy to refill the tea pot when we asked. All in all it was nice experience, just a bit disappointed in the size of my dish. Don’t let my disappointment stop you from going there to sample their tasty dishes. As I said before, loads of Vietnamese restaurants in central London to check out. It is a very competitive market and they have to make sure they tick all the boxes, the place was packed, so they must be doing something right!! Enjoy!

The pho broth is superb, which is flavorfull, clear and light. The portion is big for jumbo Pho. The chicken curry has a great flavors as well. The ambience is nice no too. I like to see one of the lady still cut the tail of bean sprouts. If you are around Soho, this is a place to enjoy Pho and Viet foods.

Easily the best Bún Bò Huế in London. Most Vietnamese restaurants here just use their phở broth and add shrimp paste to call it BBH, but Viet Soho actually does it properly with its own pot of broth, and you can taste the difference. The soup is rich, spicy and so full of flavour, exactly how it should be.

The spring rolls are spot on, super crispy and not oily and the gỏi salad is fresh, tangy and delicious.

Service is also brilliant. The chefs are lovely, and the owner is so friendly and attentive, you really feel looked after.

Honestly, this place nails it ❤️

Service can be slow – we waited 35mins from ordering (It was a busy ish Saturday afternoon. Food was decent..HOT…good ‘Wok Chi’… those of you in the restaurant business will understand that phrase. Tasty but slight disappointing portion wise compared to price.

I had meat balls pho for lunch. The broth was flavourful and on the salty side. The rice noodles were cooked well but the meat balls let down the dish a bit.

Nice service. Not busy at lunch time on a weekday. I’d be happy to try a different dish next time.

Pho was not bad. But I didn’t feel welcome
– when I entered, I was just pointed at the bar table right next to the door, when there was still plenty of more comfortable tables available
– everyone else was offered a glass of tap water or drinks, except me. I looked around that I was the only one without a glass on the table
– my bowl of pho was just dump on the table without any words
– charged me ‘discretionary’ service charge without asking, just by default
