We were greeted at the door by friendly staff and seated promptly. The restaurant was clean and smelled like fresh bar-b-que. The food was amazing & the portion sizes were perfect. The sausage was the best sausage we’ve ever eaten. The ribs and sliced beef were tender, and the fried okra & green beans were just as amazing. Their sweet tea made me miss home… Top all of this off with the friendliest staff, especially Ron. This place is well worth going to!

Was nervous when I got there at 1230 for lunch and there was only two tables in restaurant eating. But was pleasantly surprised, service was decent and the pulled pork and the sausage was really good. Do not know why they were not busy if it is a bad location or no advertising. But they only had two staff members working out front and one cook, so if they do get busy it would be hard for them to handle. Good food though.

This was the first time I had been there and man was it good. The smell alone is amazing. My sister and I went there for lunch and it wasn’t crowded we were able to sit down right away and had our food within 15 min. The food was amazing and you get so much food. I loved it. Great amount of food and great prices. The donut holes were to die for. I would definitely recommend ordering them for dessert. I will definitely come back here again. Very friendly and helpful. My sister didn’t like one of her sides and they gladly brought her something else for no cost.

Well, today is the last day that this place is open. And my first time coming, and I regret not coming sooner.
The food is good. Reasonable prices. Great service. This place is a quiet place, honestly just something you drive by and think “hey, we should go there some time!” as you drive to Applebee’s for dinner.
The aroma of this place is amazing. If my house could smell like this I’d never leave it!
So anyways, this place was good. And I wish the owners and employees the best. They deserve it.

Delicious smoked flavor! (Coming from a Texas native and bbq snob) Pork and Chicken were my favorites. Beef and ribs good too (different than my family recipe/preference, so not a complaint just difference in taste/style). I also REALLY enjoyed the Fried Okra. I’ll be a regular now that I’ve tried it! Only wish I’d discovered it sooner. <3

Absolutely amazing! Meat was cooked perfect. BBQ just right not spicy. Chicken tenders for the kids were cooked perfectly. The donut holes for desert were warm and delicious! Must try and will be back again.

If the scale was 1 to 100 I would have to give it -110. Ordered the Chicken BBQ Nachos as a starter and realized what ever the sauce they use on the chicken is 1. should not be called BBQ sauce and 2. Was not any of the sauces at the table so it had to have been from a can or something. The cheese on the nachos was like plastic after a few min.
The dinner for 2 at 32.99 I thought was steep for the amount of food on the plate. The ribs are good once you get pas the burnt skin (perfectly normal) The beef is bland and no flavoring until you dip it in the bbq sauce, the sausage was ok, the pork was dry. We have been all over the world and Texas BBQ is the favorite for us as well as a true southern BBQ to which the restaurant claims to be. True Southern BBQ such as Georgia does not use the red sauce but a vinegar base and its incredible. We will not be back.

The server, Molly, was very nice and a proficient server. The chicken nachos were tasty, but after that it was a waste of money. The pork platter tasted bad, the bbq salad terrible, and the chicken platter was “edible”, nothing more. The potato salad was ?unique? have never had potato salad with cinnamon in it before and not fond of it. The corn tasted like they actually added sugar to it in an attempt to make it palatable. Won’t be wasting my money there again.

I had not been there for years. I was in Ankeny and hungry, so we stopped. I was very disappointed. The baked potato had been reheated and tasted that way. The fried corn that I paid extra for was dried out. The bread was ok and the meat was stingy in portion size. Not a place that I would recommend anymore.

I have eatin there a couple times and the southern hospitality is over flowing with those quick talkin waitress’s . Good food, great smell, and friendly southern atmosphere . Would recommend it over any other BBQ joint in town!
