I never enjoy leaving negative reviews and I hate to break the streak of 5 star reviews, but our experience at William’s On The Green was so extremely disappointing that I am compelled to share our experience in hopes that this doesn’t happen again. My wife and I recently stayed four nights at the Acadia Hotel – Downtown. On our last night we decided, in part based upon all of the positive reviews, that we would spend our evening enjoying martini’s at William’s On The Green. Upon our arrival we found a comfortable seat and within a minute the bartender took our drink order. We both ordered apple cinnamon martini’s. They arrived quickly and were very tasty. From this point forward things really went down hill. Although we didn’t notice it immediately upon our arrival, once we got settled it became painfully obvious that a blaring television was on that featured a show that had contestant’s berating and verbally abusing their opponents. The content was vulgar and sexually explicit. Not what we were hoping for or expecting from a martini bar with 40+ 5 star reviews and $17 drinks. A little jazz or blues from the speakers is kind of what we were anticipating I would estimate that we spent two hours at William’s On The Green, and the blaring television was on the entire time. The small bar had a handful of patrons, all of whom appeared to be employees and/or friends of the bartender. They all seemed to enjoy the offensive show. Even after the place emptied out, we were never asked if we would like another drink. I finally flagged him down and ordered another round of drinks. Upon our drinks arriving I asked if we could order from the food menu. I was told that the kitchen was closed. I few minutes later I was told that we could indeed place a food order. I ordered chips, salsa and guacamole. Most of the chips were broken, the salsa showed up in a single serve, prepackaged container, and the guacamole was brown and well past its prime. We committed ourselves to spending our last night in Bar Harbor at William’s On The Green. Perhaps we should be committed for doing so. Overall our experience at William’s On The Green (other than quality drinks) wasn’t just disappointing, it was just bad!
