Was looking for an affordable AYCE sushi spot near my house and I stumbled across Yummy 1 Sushi which is considerably less expensive compared to the surrounding AYCE sushi market (roughly $27-30 per person) at just $21 per person. It would’ve been silly of me to not want to try it at that price point. I have to admit, I was fairly skeptical of the quality of the establishment considering the low price point. The restaurant was empty when we entered and it seemed like business had been slow for quite a bit because there was an employee staring out the door looking like he was waiting for someone to come inside.
The menu selection wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, it was very much your classic sushi store menu. I ordered the spicy shrimp roll, spicy kani roll, and octopus sushi. I will say, we all had to wait a whopping 30-35 minutes for our food to come out, but this was likely due to them having to fulfill a previous order. I say this because our second round of orders was considerably faster than our first and another party had came in and their food was almost immediately ready. As for the quality of the food, it was definitely good. I do think that the way they get by with the low prices is by having the sushi have a lot of rice. The rice is incredibly filling and as you can see in the pictures, they were very generous with the rice to say the least. I really enjoyed everything I ordered, but the amount of rice made it pretty difficult to finish. My friend said he didn’t really like his scallop rolls, but other than that, everyone enjoyed their food. The service was kind and it seems like it’s a family run business. I will definitely be a returning customer whenever I’m in the mood for some AYCE sushi. Continue to support small businesses. 4/5.

Came here with my wife’s family and we all got the All You Can Eat special. Plenty of different types of sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, and special rolls to order. Platters of sushi were artfully crafted and the freshest fish and ingredients were used. The food was delicious. The best AYCE sushi I have had. If you love sushi and want to get a good bang for your buck, this place deserves your business! We will return!

Wanted to try this place since it had good reviews. Walked in and no one was in the restaurant. Sat down and order from the lunch menu. This place is definitely cheaper than most other sushi places. Took awhile to get our 5 rolls. Visually the rolls were a bit uneven. The rice to fish ratio was off. Too much rice and barely any fish. I had the Ichiban roll and it was sweet. Strange since it was a California roll wrapped with spicy snow roll and spicy tuna. Not sure why it was sweet. My husband’s order was too salty. We had high hopes for this place but no matter how cheap we will not be returning.

Small family run restaurant. Ordered all you can eat. First serving was decent. The second serving almost made me throw up. I was served a discolored smelly portion of tuna. In all the years of eating Sushi, this was the worst. I hate writing this review because it’s will hurt this small family business. They apologized on my way out the door, but still took the money for the food. It took me a long time to edit my first review because I know this will hurt their business. But it had to be said.

Favorite and best sushi place. The sushi here lives up to its name, it is yummy and so good. The price is even better too because it’s cheaper than any other sushi place I’ve been to in the island. The staff here are so nice too. Highly recommend.

Good, and inexpensive takeout with plenty of options. They serve good portions and the fish is of good quality. For a small shop in Merrick, it has everything you could want for a quick sushi lunch, or dining at home.
