El Rancho Tavern has been my second home away from home. I have been at my lowest a thousand times being here but somehow they know how to treat me like a human being…all the bartenders have treated me like I was family to them, especially Carson and Carlos. They’re not just bartenders, they’re good people with a good soul that actually cares about their customers. I would 100% recommend them not just as business but as people that actually have good personalities and compassion that they show with their own employees and customers. I never had a bad time at this particular bar but good vibes.

Walked into this bar little before noon on this Saturday for lunch with my wife 18-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter. I was stopped by the female bartender and told that the bar was only for 21 and over. Ironically, there was an infant sitting on the floor in the aisle wave between the bar and the tables which did not make no sense. There was a bunch of Anglo bearded man at the bar and if you Anglo women and couples at the tables. I am a light colored Hispanic/ Native American and my wife has green eyes. My kids look white. I took this more as racial profiling, We went back in a few hours later and a different bartender was serving and he allowed us to stay and I had a drink. I basically wanted to prove to my wife and kids that we were profile and I was right. We are visiting town to show my son the college. The bar ruined my taste! We like Durango and we like to go skiing in the winter time and water skiing in the summertime at the lake but won’t be going back to this bar again. Reading the comments, the manager needs to clean this place up.

The best pool in Durango and 5 star popcorn and they have drinks of the adult variety. They will get that adult drink to you quickly and best part is no children hanging out and they have karaoke as well. Maz is the coolest? Mabey Carlos? Yeah probably Carlos.

What a horrible experience today at this bar. We are down from Canada with friends
who are from Durango. They sent us on our way to explore. We stopped in for a cold beer. The bartender wouldn’t make eye contact with us. We just waited patiently, watched him eat his food, chat to the lady at the bar. Finally my husband went up and ordered a couple of beers. He was asked to show ID, that’s fine, it’s funny when you’re in your 60’s, but no problem. Then he said the lady to, again no problem. He then said I need your passports……ummmm we don’t carry our passports we leave them safely at our summer home in Washington. He then refused us and told us nobody would serve us in this town. Very rude. Thankfully we found lots of pubs. Not one asked for ID. We were so excited to come here, and to have that as our first experience was a bit shocking. Just be kind, you don’t like Canadians we get it and we promise never to come back!

To start, the service is horrible. I walked in alone, sat down, and no one came up to me. They were not busy at this time. Finally I get someone to get me drink, but had to wait forever just to pay for the 1 drink. The 1 beer was 7 dollars, plus terrible service. So I didn’t leave a tip. I was charged an extra 10 dollars. They gave themselves a 10 dollar tip. I emailed the bar and have yet to get this charge removed. I did not want to spend 17 dollars on 1 corona. I refuse to spend money there again.

We saw Garrett Lebeau and Nick James at El Rancho Tavern. The venue was awesome, great staff and great show! A stay in Durango is incomplete without a visit to El Rancho Tavern!
