We were looking for seafood on the river, this place had decent reviews. Great location. Outside seating only, with a covered bar and an overhead open tent for live music with seating for eating.
It was confusing trying to figure out if we seat ourselves, wait for someone to seat us or order from the bar and then seat ourselves. We waited in a long line at the bar just to be told, seat yourself and someone will come place your order.
The servers were short staffed on a busy Friday evening and overwhemled. Most of the tables that were free had not been cleaned. The menus were lamitaed and dirty. They had food stains and visible fingerprints. It also took a while for someone to greet us just to take our drink order.
Once our server came, she was apologetic about the wait, she placed our order and was doing her best to help several other tables simultaneously.
Honestly, it didnt take long for our food to come out.
The food was disappointing. One positive, it came out hot. We both ordered the seafood platter which was 27 dollars each, totally not worth it. The platter came with haddock. Gross, it was not fresh, it tasted like bland frozen fish sticks. The calamari, was seasonless, and fried super hard. Not enjoyable at all. The shrimp, were decent, but tasted like they had been just breaded and fried, no nothing added. The cucumber salad also had no flavor. We were so disappointed. Look at the pictures, you can also clearly see the portions were skimpy for a platter. Based off of this experience I would not recommend and certainly would not try them again.

District Seafood, located outside the Marriott, offered a fresh and tasty experience overall.
– I ordered the fish sandwich — even though I’m not usually a fan of fried food, I asked if they could do it blackened or grilled, but that was a firm “no.” That said, the sandwich was actually very good and fresh! My only critique would be the aioli — way too much of it. I’d definitely recommend asking for it on the side next time.
– My husband had the crab cake sandwich, which he said was fresh and flavorful. We both agreed that the homemade chips were excellent — super thin, crispy, and perfectly seasoned.
– The cucumber salad, however, was a big miss. I expected something light and refreshing, maybe thinly sliced or shredded but whatever it was, it just didn’t work. Skip that one.
– Service started out great, especially before the crowd picked up. Once it got busy, it became hard to flag someone down to check out, though management eventually stepped in to help. Despite the rush, everyone stayed pleasant and professional.
Overall, good seafood and friendly staff — just a few tweaks away from being a really great spot.

It is self seating with a beautiful view of the water front. The night we went they happened to have live music as well. The fried shrimp was the best thing we ordered. The gumbo is not a Cajun style variation they used smoked tomato in the roux which we were not a fan of. The shrimp boil was forgettable sadly. The staff were friendly.

We were visiting the waterfront on a cold and misty afternoon and noticed this venue with heaters above the bar. We decided to give it a shot. And so set at the bar with our pup and started by ordering a couple of drinks. I ordered a buffalo trace, old fashioned and my wife ordered a reposado tequila on the rocks. As my wife’s drink was delivered, we ordered dinner, which was shrimp and grits and the gumbo, which we were going to share. I asked several times where my old fashioned was just to be told that the other bartender was making it. My wife was enjoying her tequila when our food arrived. I still had not received my old fashioned. I asked about it again and was told again, “She’s working on it.” We could see the other bartender who was obviously not working on it. We started into the food which was fantastic. The roux, in this gumbo was exactly what I would expect in a great gumbo. It was dark and very flavorful. The smoky shrimp and grits was also absolutely amazing. Eventually my old fashioned arrived. It was subpar at best. I’m not sure if that’s just a product of the bartender not knowing how to make an old fashioned or if this is how they’re normally made there. I give the food and the atmosphere super high marks. Our server / bartender not so much. There were two bartenders behind the bar.And there were only eight people in total, including us at the bar at the time. I guess everyone can have an off day. If you’re a fan of gumbo or a fan of shrimp and grits, this is definitely a place you want to stop and eat.

I saw an odd post claiming their oysters were undercooked. Lol. My tray of oysters Rockerfeller were served hot and juicy. Perfection. It’s December but I took a spot under a heater and was toasty warm. The holiday beer, a dark brown and tasty one was so enjoyable I had a second after my oysters and just enjoyed people watching and chatting with others at the bar as I sipped it.

This is a prime location. We stopped as a group to enjoy the riverside. I had shrimp and grits and did not enjoy them. The dish was too salty and lacking flavor. The chef spent too much time on making it IG picture ready rather than offering a memorable experience. My table mate were not impressed with their dishes as well.

We had a great meal at District Seafood! The shrimp was especially good, but be careful – the blackened shrimp are hot and spicy! The location is nice, with outdoor seating by the river, and the staff was friendly. Just a heads-up: there can be a lot of mosquitoes in the evening, so it’s a good idea to apply some bug spray before heading out to the river.

We stopped by this place while enjoying the views of the riverside. Everything was top tier! We had the oysters Rockefeller, crab cake sandwich with fries, and the fish with Cajun rice. The breading on the crab cake was a little harder than I prefer but the taste was still good. Even the sweet tea was perfect. Best I’ve ever experienced. The service was impeccable. Alex and Ashley were attentive and friendly! Loved everything about them. I can’t wait to return to Savannah. District Seafood will be my first stop.

Loved the food! My partner is from Sav GA so he always like to take me to different spots for seafood the low country boil was tasty the fried shrimp were amazing. I liked the spicy Paloma but wasn’t a fan of the excess tajin inside the drink it kinda messed with the flavor but everything was good and honestly I can def overlook the drink we got there probably 40 min before kitchen closed they didn’t rush us or anything. That was great Thanks Liam for the service

I was spending 6 nights at the JW, and this was my first meal after arriving in Savannah. Had a shrimp po’ boy that was delish, along with thick fries and a beer (or two).
Near the end of my stay I came back and had the Lo Country Boil. It was good. Manager Kerin is awesome.
