Life Of A Nomad
World-Famous Margaritas & Local Vibes at the Adobe Bar The Living Room of Taos

Every time we visit Taos, we make sure to stop at Adobe Bar inside the historic Taos Inn it’s simply part of the Taos experience. This iconic spot is known for its world-famous margaritas, cozy atmosphere, and nightly live music that captures the creative spirit of northern New Mexico.

The bar has an old-school Southwestern charm with warm adobe walls, rustic wooden furniture, and that glowing red BAR sign that’s perfect for photos. The vibe is welcoming and relaxed, whether you’re sitting at the bar or tucked into one of the tables by the stage. Service is always friendly and attentive, and you can feel the sense of community among locals and travelers alike.

We ordered their legendary margarita (with salt on the rim + lime, of course) and it truly lives up to its reputation smooth, strong, and perfectly balanced. For dessert, we shared a delicious pumpkin-style cheesecake that paired beautifully with the drink.

Parking is available along the street for a small fee, and clean restrooms are located in the Taos Inn lobby.
If you’re spending an evening in Taos, don’t skip this place great drinks, live music, and authentic local soul all in one spot.

We went here twice—Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving. We enjoyed the music both times, especially “The Neighbors” who played a great range of music.

Service was great one night and just ok the 2nd night.

I had the chile relleno, which was quite tasty but the surrounding sauce cooled off quickly

Recommend getting there early as it is pretty small, especially in the high season

I drove almost 1,000 miles from home to get to Taos. I would not stay anywhere else in town. This place is super convenient and clean and the staff is super friendly. Quaint doesn’t begin to sum it up. Awesome bar and lounge. Even live music when I was there. I cannot wait to come back and bring the whole family next time.

I really wanted to love this place. The atmosphere, history, and charm are outstanding. Unfortunately, the service fell short.

We were seated and given water quickly, and our drinks arrived in about ten minutes, which was reasonable. When the drinks were delivered, we placed our food order. About 35 minutes later, a table that was seated roughly 15 minutes after us received their meals. They had ordered the same dishes, which made it appear our food may have been delivered to the wrong table.

After flagging down our server, we explained that we had been waiting over 30 minutes for our food. She seemed unaware of the delay. At that point, our drinks were empty, refills hadn’t been offered, and our order was sitting on another table.

Everyone has an off day, but for a first visit, the service was disappointing. If you have other dining options, I’d recommend choosing one of those instead.

Really nice little place with live music. Service was quick and attentive. Lots of little nooks and crannies to squeeze into if it’s busy. We didn’t eat, but the food looked good. Will be back!

This is our go to spot for good drinks and atmosphere. We had the trio(salsa, guacamole & cheese dip). They were all so good. The cheese dip reminds me of the one my mom made when I was a kid so it takes me back to a happy time. They have live music, I think every night.

Incredible atmosphere! We loved the way the place feels and how lively, and western it is.

However, drinks and services need some improvement. Drinks are not too strong and a bit overly sweet.

The drinks were great and were only surpassed by the atmosphere. The only thing that was a bit off-putting was the fact that they wanted to charge us to add a little salsa for our tortillas chips. We were paying $17 to $20 for margaritas, and we had several rounds. We asked the server to add a little sala for our chips, and she said there was a charge for that. You got to be kidding me… ridiculous! We won’t be going back.

We have never actually stayed in a room at the Inn…..

However, The Adobe Bar is our go-to spot in Taos for authentic Taos atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food and great local entertainment. Great for “people watching”.
