The crab cakes were very delicious, but over priced for the portion size. I also ordered the fish and chips. I would’ve preferred to not mix malt vinegar with mayo but I wasn’t given the option. The mayo vinegar made the fried fish even greaser. The shrimp and grits was good. And the peach cobbler was fair.

My wife and I went to dinner at the beginning of Oct 2015 and were greeted warmly and immediately seated.

The 701 Fish House & Oyster Bar is comfortably appointed and our server was warm and attentive supplying a few choice selections. We were focused on the Oysters and selected 6 dozen. All were delivered on ice, fresh and with a special butter sauce on the side. They were awesome. Later Amy the owner stopped at our table and greeted us like old friends.

The food was sensational and the people warm with a very friendly atmosphere. My wife and I will be returning soon! Great Job Amy, Bob

We were promptly greeted and seated. Our server was very nice and attentive. I had the Shrimp Fettuccini and my husband had the fish sandwich, everything came quick and tasted good. For the price it was nice. We may visit again, when we get in Kentucky.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal on Aug.19th. The food was fresh and flavorful, the staff was friendly and very helpful with knowledge of menu items. My husband enjoyed the gumbo and said he has waited 20 years to find one as good as he had in New Orleans. I had oyster stew and the oysters melted in my mouth like butter. We ordered several other items and enjoyed them all. Will definitely be back!!

I have been 3 times each time the menu was different. Bad experience first visit , person with me had a very expensive meal the fish was raw and side portions very very small for the price , all though my fish sandwich was good. My salad was a terse , but Thinking ok if someone else wants me to go again and I can’t get out of it I could at least get a decent fish sandwich and very small salad. So second visit the menu was different from before but my fish sandwich was good, thought if I came back may try the fish and shrimp plate my sister got, they liked their food but still thought not enough for price. So on 10/17 I returned again wanting the fish sandwich and again the whole menu had changed and so had the fish sandwich I ordered was not like before and they did not even have the fish and shrimp plate my sister had gotten last visit. The salad was not even the same. The appetizer fried oysters were good fries over done. And I will not be back. Red Lobster will get my business. I hate it too because we really need a good place where you can get really good Fish.

Very good experience at lunch today. Waitress was excellent and food was very good. My husband and I are foodies and they easily accommodated our gluten free diet. Caesar dressing creamy, barracuda and shrimp and grits very tasty with nice presentation. Nice updated atmosphere and clean.

Poor reviews upon opening is always a given, but this place deserves a second chance.
I was promptly seated at the booth just outside the kitchen entry. My server, Sylvia, was quick to pick up that I was new to the establishment. She made her recommendations while filling the water glass. I ordered a variety of oysters: Blue Points on the half, Miyagi on the half, Bourbon Cream Broiled, and the Nola-Style. The Miyagi were strong, perfect for experienced oyster fanatics and Sylvia’s explanation accompanied by her recommendation was spot on. The Bourbon Cream, are by far my favorite broiled oyster, best eaten warm. I also ordered the fried green tomatoes which were so unexpectedly cooked to perfection and paired with hummus. My drink stayed filled and Sylvia let me piece together a few more dishes in my, mixed let me try different stuff meal. My only complaint was the absence of pictures for their common dishes that do not rotate, this is not conducive for visual eaters, but Sylvia saved the day when questioned on the dishes found on yelp. All around 701 was gorgeously represented by its decorations garnish on the dishes, and it’s staff. The owner should be proud.

I liked it less the second time. Shrimp poor boy was good but only had 4 shrimp. Ice tea was old cloudy with poor taste. Salmon was excellent. Fries were not hot and this is a second offense. My grandson enjoyed his pulled pork, sandwich and it was loaded with pork

I walked up to this place and said ” This is going to be a very good meal.” Everything looked very nice inside. Do first I ordered some hush puppies and I thought I was going to get a basket of hush puppies but instead I got three which is a low size portion. The my dinner for ever worse. I ordered crispy chicken. But when I took a bite the chicken was bloody red so I gave it to the waitress and she took it to the chef and I did get new tenders but, they charged me for two crispy chicken meals! I was so outraged! Overall I had a different perspective on this place than I expected it to be.

We were very excited to try out a new seafood place in Elizabethtown! My party of 4 tried just about everything on the menu, and the “Snack & Shares” and “Oyster Bar” fare was quite good, but the “Supper” and “Sides for the Table” were lacking in presentation and were a bit blah. The shrimp mac & cheese looked like boxed product with a few whole shrimp dumped in (needed to be chopped and mixed in with some garnish); the house fries were served cold and with no fry sauce; and the red snapper was dry with uncooked “greens” on the side (I’m not sure anyone likes raw brussell sprouts). The Connecticut Blue Point oysters, the Florida grouper, the bourbon cheese grits, and the key lime cheesecake were awesome!

All waitstaff members were very unsure and flustered when we asked questions or needed clarification on ingredients/details. We had to ask for drinks, appetizer plates, and remaining ordered items multiple times. It was obvious the staff needed additional training on the menu details and serving etiquette. Most severs struggled to carry trays and serve entrees; we witnessed many a dropped tray full of food. A “soft” opening would have allowed for better training, setting the staff up for success at a slower pace, as most of the issues were typical of inexperience and nervousness associated with a new restaurant.

Walk-ins probably will not be accepted for quite awhile especially during the dinner rush (dozens of parties were turned away even though there were several empty tables), so make sure you make a reservation.

I look forward to trying this place again once the staff gains some experience. I will probably make a meal on the appetizers next time.
