There were maybe 10-12 people, all playing darts at 5 or 6, beautifully old, dart machines. There is also a pool table and room for a nice crowd, when we get back to normal…..
I put Franny’s very high on the list of great, honestly old, little bars.
Well at that point I realized that I didn’t have any cash on me, so I proceed to ask if the bar accepted credit cards (it’s 2015, most bars do and have for years). She smirked and said “no…” as if that was the craziest thing she ever heard. She then tells me that the ATM is over in the corner, to which walk over and start using. Well I kept getting error messages from the machine saying it wouldn’t accept my pin and cancelled the transactions. I went over to the bartender, told her that something was wrong with the ATM, it wouldn’t accept my pin. Her response was this: (again in a snarky tone) “What do I look like your personal ATM person?!” and proceeds to ask for my ID. I show her my ID and said “well I can’t get any cash out of your machine for some reason”. She responds with “Well then you don’t get your drink!” in her usual rude tone. After that I walked down to the end of the bar, stood for a couple minutes. She walks over to me and says “fine you might as well take your drink since it’ll be wasted anyway.”
At that point I just decided to focus on singing and, after finishing my Bloody Mary, didn’t order another drink. Honestly, I have never been treated so poorly by bartending staff in my life. I was shocked at the extremely rude behavior and will not be returning to Franny’s ever again. Even if that bartender was having a bad day, or just didn’t trust me, she still should’ve kept her attitude professional and respectful. When someone works for a business, no matter what kind, they should ALWAYS treat their customers professionally and respectfully. If you’re upset about something, stressed, or just not feeling well, I don’t care – you plaster a fake smile on your face and you do your job at the best of your ability. If you can’t do that, then maybe a service job isn’t for you.
