We ordered their cheese fries with bacon, and it was really delicious. The fries were flavorful even though they were oily. The bacon bits were really good, and so was the amount of that melty cheese.

One order is good for 2 to 3 people depending on how hungry you are. I think it’s worth the price.

However, we thought that some of the fries were pretty burnt in taste.

We watched the employees pull the fries with 38 seconds left on the timer. They were greasy, flavorless, undercooked, and soggy. Absolutely disgusting, and they somehow cost $12.

Getting better! For the first time, the fries looked edible. I will swear this is because the oil had a chance to reach the proper temperature during the heavy downpour that chased everyone indoors for an hour. In the past, the fries have been a greasy, undercooked lump. Then some people cover them with cheese out of a can! I never understood. But then after the storm last week, I saw that the fries looked GREAT. See photos.

These are my favorite fries. Little or no salt. Oily. Browned. No batter coating. Pure potato. Best time to go is around sunset when the lines are shorter.

The Potato Patch remains the best cheese fries in the world. Thick hand cut fries and real cheddar cheese sauce (none of this nacho cheese on fries). I have to go whenever I’m at the park, and it’s enough for a full meal. Lines are unsurprisingly always long, but move fairly fast. Plenty of seating in the area if the stand’s own tables are full.

The Potato Patch is a Pittsburgh institution and probably the most popular food stand at Kennywood. The fries -The only thing sold here aside from drinks -are legendary.
One complaint the menu did not list ‘gravy’ as a topping option. But after the 45-60 minute wait in line when I reached the counter and ordered cheese fries, I saw the gravy bin. If gravy was stated on the menu I would have knew it was available instead of seeing it after I placed an order.
If you are a “Kennywood Kid”, a good ole’ yinzer, or a famished park goer, The Potato Patch will not disappoint. It will feel both hunger and nostalgia cravings.

The Potato patch is a must do at Kennywood Park. The service is a little slow. But the wait is worth it for the unbelievable bacon and cheese fries. You must eat here when you visit Kennywood.

Fries were great when we finally got helped. The two girls were more interested in there drama then helping anyone.

As someone who cannot eat pork as a dietary restriction, the cross contamination I saw was terrible.

Bacon bits were kept way too close to the cheese sauce and pieces of it were falling into the cheese container. Left the line immediately.

I was disappointed as I was really looking forward to enjoying the fries. It’s really not hard to avoid this, just put some kind of barrier or keep cheese away from bacon.

Good but when this is all you do (make French fries for a busy amusement park) the line shouldn’t take 45 minutes. Especially when the park is only open for 7hours! Super inefficient. Needs improvement on the timing of the lines.
