At our Newark, OH location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Not gonna usually good despite the grease. Ordered 2 lobster rolls….got a hamburger top and bottom with the top having the lobster mix on one side nearly falling off, reached into the bag for the other and the bun was empty..huh? Look in the bag and the lobster mix was in the bottom of the bag SMH. Also ordered lobster bites…all were cold as hell, got there at 840 because ot was supposed to be ready at 844….waited long enough in the drive thru line that I got my food about 10 after maybe later. I understand you get busy some times but you gotta adjust that’s it, don’t just throw things together, tell people they’re getting hamburger buns with the filling in the dang bag maybe I won’t want it…spoiler alert I wouldn’t have. I would have never handed that cold food or crazily made lobster rolls to a customer, hoping another experience will be better SMH.

I’ve only ever been through the drive thru, but I’ve personally never had a bad experience here. First time going through, I got the Feast and second time through, bought the 2 chicken, 2 fish box. They were both delicious, but I will say the chicken was a little disappointing. They were small, like tiny tenders and honestly made me want Long John Silver’s’ chicken instead. The jalapeño poppers are pretty tasty as well. Will return, but for something other than chicken.

Unfortunately didn’t get to receive any food due to the manager in charge on 8/7/2025 at 9pm. Tried to place an order for a family meal but they were out of crab stuffers. Which I understand but when asked if we could substitute for lobster bites we were told no by the cashier. We asked if it would be a discounted meal since we weren’t allowed to substitute any side again told no. The cashier offered to ask the manager but when she went back the manager yelled no from the back with the most rude behavior I’ve ever heard. Then stared at my wife and I from the back and said again with attitude “ I can’t change it so I don’t know what you guys want.” We left immediately without even talking to the manager as we could already tell it wouldn’t resolve anything and we were already uncomfortable.

I think they gave us catfish instead of regular fish. The fish was terrible and yellowish in color. Only two employees were working and we weren’t sure they were open because nobody else was there. Parking lot was empty. It was disappointing. The hush puppies, cole slaw and fries were good.

2pm 5/12/25 pulled into the drive through. No one would respond. Pulled to the window and no one was around even though they were open. Went to leave and employees were on there phones chatting outside. Bunch of young kids with zero work ethic.

So I had not eaten here in years, until yesterday. The food was fresh and hot, but the chicken tasted so bad that I literally had to throw it away because the batter had this weird chemical type of taste. The fish and fries were good, but the Mac n cheese was absolutely flavorless. Also one of the employees was hugging and kissing on her boyfriend behind the counter in front of customers and that is very unprofessional. I won’t go back here unfortunately!
