AMAZING spot. A must visit. Great professional service. Rib eye and flank steak were to die for. Impressive cocktails. All around a fabulous place for a special occasion or casual dinner. The food was spectacular in every sense of the word, everything was paired perfectly. We will definitely be back!

Happy to stumble upon this hidden gem near Sunday River. The restaurant had recently won a local competition called the best pour award so I had to get a cocktail. I chose the White Rabbit since it’s not too often you see carrot used in a drink. It had a good balance of sake, carrot and nutmeg. Benedictine rounded out the flavor profile. I liked that aquafaba (the water from chickpeas) was used for the foam as opposed to egg whites.
The food was on point too. Seafood chowder had a nice texture with moderate amount of tender scallops and whitefish. It was more peppery than others. Kale and Brussels was well dressed and the miso stood out. Mildly spicy at the start but the spice built up as you ate it. Duck tacos had a good mix with spicy green apple salsa and watermelon radish. It paired well with the duck although I think it would work with any protein.
The chef’s fish was cod that absorbed the miso marinade perfectly. Oyster mushrooms were the perfect accompaniment. This sat on a bed of rice noodles. It was sufficient, but found myself wanting a noodle that could hold more of the sauce. The dish was adorned with a fried crispy rice cracker that was a favorite of mine growing up.
I also tried a bit of my friend’s chicken and farro. Chicken was juicy and flavor was excellent with the chicken flavor enhanced by the spices/glaze used. Farro tabbuleh did embody the flavors of the original tabbuleh (usually consisting of bulgar wheat and parsley with lemon) with a heartier texture.
Service was excellent. They were attentive without being intrusive. They waited for us to finish our starters before bringing out our mains. When our utensils were refreshed they were placed on top of a new napkin. Lots of places just put it directly on to the table.
I’ll be sure to stop by again if I’m in the area.

The food was mediocre, and that’s being kind. Very expensive. Which would be fine but some of our dishes were actually inedible. I got the chicken and farro. The chicken didn’t have much meat on it and was slightly over cooked. While the farro that accompanied it was grossly overcooked. I did enjoy the tzatziki though, and the dry chicken greatly appreciated a sauce.
My dinner companion ordered two entrees. The pasta bolognese tasted like elementary cafeteria spaghetti. Noodles were so overcooked and the sauce lacked flavor.
Their second entree was the steak. The steak was requested medium rare and arrived to the table with no pink at all in the center, the steak was cooked grey throughout. They did send the steak back, as it was such a disappointment. The second steak served was much better in quality and taste, but honestly kind of frustrating the first steak was even served. I did love the potatoes they serve, they’re crispy wedge style. Delicious.
Overall the building was really nice, the venue and bathrooms clean and I really liked sitting on the porch. If there’s nothing else available and you want to waste some money, I guess this place will suffice

The food and drinks were amazing! Our server was phenomenal and gave us great recommendations. The only negative was the music being a bit too loud for our liking.
The patio had plenty of room for several tables and it offered a nice alternative to indoor dining.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Bethel!

Food is mid at best. Portions are ridiculously small for the price. The lobster roll was shockingly small and boring. Maybe 30% lobster meat 70% bread… and thats being generous. Cold plain lobster and undressed greens on a roll. No sauce … no butter .. literally plain lobster meat. I had to ask for melted butter on the side just to make it a bit more tasty. The cocktails were great. The beets app was good but not impressive. Atmosphere is very cute and the service was great. Food was truly dissapointing. $180 for 4 drinks, an app and 2 lobster rolls. As a note to the owner as a consumer- we don’t even mind paying $38 for a lobster roll if it has a good amount of meat on it. Charging almost $40 for 2-3 small chunks of lobster is insulting.

Best in town! A+ service, fantastic food, and inviting atmosphere. We highly recommend this place out of all places in the area. The portions are decent, price is fair, and drinks are outstanding! Drinks – We loved Maine’s remedy after a long day of skiing, and port wine as the perfect dessert to put us in bed. Food – the Brussels are amazing, perfect blend of sweet and salty, crispy and tender, the pancettas are cut in little chunks not bits, huge plus! Lobster rolls are staple, flank steak is a MUST!

Ordered 4 appetizers and 2 main dishes. I wish I had ask for a cup of warm water to dilute the food. It is very salty!

We were staying in Gorham, NH and discovered Salt (local restaurant in town) had closed down. There were no other places with top notch craft cocktails or the upscale food options we were looking for. We didn’t want pizza or BBQ with Gorham being limited with dining options. The host at our B&B recommended taking a 25min drive to Bethel, ME and going to explore the historical section of town that had shops and restaurants. After looking online in Google Maps, Mountain Social Kitchen & Bar popped up with photos of upscale cocktails and decorative food items. Thinking this place was too good to be true, checking the hours of operations, it was indeed open! With plenty of parking on site, we were eager to see the inside of the place. It was beautiful with touches of rustic elegance all throughout making any of the rooms attractive to dine in. We grabbed seats at the bar which felt very cozy with dim lighting. Kelsey our bartender provided excellent service and was great to talk to while having cocktails and small bites. We started off with the Pineapple Express (Mezcal lovers try this) it was beautifully presented and tasted delicious with a light frothy foam on top. Next I tried Fennel Destination (Mezcal lovers try this) also equally as delicious and was light and airy with tastes from the tropics. I tried the Butternut Squash Coconut Curry Soup and it was by far the best I’ve ever had. Recently opening for lunch, Mountain Social was going to be the highlight of our trip with tasting excellence while away in the mountains. Kelsey let us know it had just become Happy Hour and it was $2.00 off specialty cocktails and there were small bites to choose from on the menu. This was even more exciting! We selected the Mussels which were great! For foodies and craft cocktail lovers, you will not get the quality, presentation or ambiance anywhere else in town. It was worth the short drive from NH to discover this gem. Everything was accordingly priced for fresh foods and ingredients. I went back and told our host to let all other guests know if they didn’t mind traveling outside of Gorham to Bethel, they wouldn’t be disappointed. On great weather days, this is the place to be to sit outside on the big patio and enjoy your experience of outdoor dining. I’d come back to Bethel just to eat and drink here. We were so pleased and thrilled to be able to find a place that matched our tastes and qualities we were looking for. 100% recommended for all occasions, you’ll receive nothing less of amazing hospitality and customer service.

Wow. This was the best meal we’ve had in a while. The menu choices & food prep is amazing. This is the best restaurant in the Sunday River ski area. We made reservations and encourage it.

We got the steak tartar, duck tacos & oxtail toast, followed by a chocolate pot au crème for dessert. The steak tartar was some of the best I’ve had, not at all over dressed. The duck tacos were wonderful, very heavily seasoned with dried chilies (and possibly a dash of cinnamon) but not overly “spicy” on crispy fresh corn tortillas. The oxtail toast was also wonderful, very rich and almost unseasoned, allowing the flavor of the beef to shine.
After we’d finished our savory plates it struck me that our dishes had covered the gamut of seasoning levels from heavily seasoned (duck tacos), to medium seasoning (steak tartar), to unseasoned (oxtail toast), and I thought that was a pretty cool phenomenon that happened entirely by accident. (If I worked there, I’d suggest that people order a “flight of dishes with different seasoning levels” just for fun.)
As for the pot au creme, it was very rich, smooth and, if 4 ppl just want a few bites each of something sweet, there would have been plenty. Over all, hats off, 5 out of 5 stars
