Loved my experience! I had never been and went for a double date on Saturday. It was a chilly evening so all of their meals were perfect. My boyfriend had the special, which I think was the Lamb. I had the short ribs. We all shared the brie and then the pretzel appetizers. The beer cheese that came with the pretzels was the best beer cheese I’ve ever had. I’m not a mustard fan, but my entire table enjoyed all of the mustards that came with the pretzels as well. I can’t believe I didn’t take any photos of the food or drinks, but my boyfriend and friend are both avid beer drinkers and thought their selections were great. Looking forward to going back!

And absolute gem of a restaurant! It is easy to see why this has been a neighborhood favorite for so many years; the service, food, and atmosphere were wonderful. On a cold winter night, it felt cozy and warm, and I was there for a birthday dinner with a group of friends. Some ordered from the restaurant week menu, some ordered from the standard menu, and all of us were more than happy with the dishes we received (literally everything on the menu was amazing). The cocktails, beer, and wine offered were also excellent, and service was friendly and attentive. I will absolutely be going back. A great experience all around!

Absolutely great food! Meat we got was stunning, soft and delicious, all the other menu positions were great as well, however it took an hour for the desert we placed at the very beginning and even though my husband ordered espresso, we never got it(even though it appeared in the receipt at the end). I hope it was just our experience, because I would definitely go back for the food. The food was 5 stars level for sure

Like the atmosphere but portion is really small. Ordered sauerbraten but there is only one small piece of meat. Staff are nice but slow.

Great experience and friendly staff at the Cafe Berlin in Capitol Hill. The food was excellent. And the beer is great. There are other German restaurants I went to before in DC but this place definitely has more beer selection. Strongly recommend for hanging out to drink or dining.

While we were on a walk with our dogs. We decided to check to see if this place was dog friendly, and it was. The outdoor patio was perfect! The host gave us a section in the back that allowed us to have more space with our 3 dogs. They have really nice fire heaters and tons of lighting creating a nice outdoor ambiance. The food was amazing. My husband was also happy that they served non alcoholic beers and drinks. They were busy, but service was still great!

I’ve had many schnitzels throughout Germany and Austria (as you can see from my Google Reviews profile), and this is honestly one of the best I’ve had this side of the pond. The portions were a bit smaller than what you may find for the same price in Germany, but the flavors and cook were right on. It’s a nice restaurant with a quiet, more upscale atmosphere. If you bring kids, I’d recommend sitting on the patio.
The kasespaetzle was worth upgrading for in my opinion. The strudel was very good, and not too sweet. Everything we had was delicious.

Enjoyable German restaurant west of Union Station. The food was quite tasty, particularly the schnitzel and peach Melba dessert. The Biergarten looked lovely but we ate inside because of the humidity. I found the decor a bit dated, unfortunately. We had a lively and chatty server but had a very unpleasant interaction with the bartender, so much so that we almost left upon arrival. (There was no host). Unfortunately, he also sometimes ran dishes or refills so his negative energy kept ruining our otherwise pleasant meal. It was a mixed bag but I would try it again.

It’s always difficult to get gnocchi right, but their sweet potato gnocchi was absolutely perfect and one of the best I’ve had. Also tried the mushroom soup, which was a smaller portion but delicious. The bread pudding was a bit too sweet (because of the apple sauce) and crispy for my liking, but not bad either.

Walked in didn’t have a reservation not a problem everyone was so nice from the beginning to end. Our lady taking care of us was great as well as the other staff helping out. But most importantly the German food was very very good we had Curry wurst,Schnitzel,Sauerkraut all good.
