We had a delicious, relaxing dinner last night before seeing a play at Portland Playhouse. We both had rice-noodle entrees, one with shrimp, the other with chicken. Both were delicious and fresh. I had a coconut-kumquat drink, my partner had a passionfruit juice. Both were tasty, refreshing, and interesting (in a good way). Ordering was a bit confusing, because the laminated menus did not exactly match the categories on the iPad kiosk, but we figured it out.
The high-ceilinged open space is easy on the eyes.

We dropped by for phở today and our phở were so good. The beef was excellent but the broth was too greasy. Extra point for the authentic noodle (bánh phở). In terms of service, we expected a faster serving for pho in stead of waiting about 20 mins to get served. Another inconvenient thing is your have to get to the counter to serve the condiment yourself in tiny plastic cups. Overall, the food is good but you should expect it like a food court so you would be happy. There is only one staff taking order, making drinks, serving and cleaning so dont expect any communication

I have my beef with the digitization and redundancy trend of restaurants where you order from a screen. And the room is brightly lit with high ceiling and concrete floors and no booths. I like to tuck into a booth when I’m getting into my comfort cozy food. So architecturally/organizationally, I’m giving this place the side eye. But all that aside, the beef phô I had was- can I say this- really really good. Some of the bites of brisket took me places I have never been. There is no soft tendon or tripe on the phô menu. I decry this trend, which along with AI threatens my way of life. But again, imma say I didn’t get thirsty after this bowl of phô, which means they didn’t use alot of salt (or sugar?) and the flavor comes from chef’s love and tears. Anyway, I haven’t eaten any of the rest of the menu except passion fruit drink (amazing, refreshing, pure delight, but in plastic cup smaller than picture according to my son.) Like East German figure skating judge I only give out six stars to East German / Warsaw Pact phô restaurants, but I will revisit this restaurant for the phô. They will have my future business.

Came here with a pretty big group and we were all blown away.
The food was amazing and the coffee, even better. Some of the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had.

Clean and open, this restaurant uses technology to its advantage. You can either order online or with a QR code. The menu has lots of variety with a primary focus on Vietnamese with a few Thai dishes.

Lua is simply fantastic, excellent Vietnamese food. We ordered the lemongrass tofu banh mi and summer rolls and they were outstanding. Flavors were complex and authentic. Really appreciate the delicious vegetarian options, usually they’re an afterthought. Thank you! We will definitely be back.

My family stopped in for dinner tonight at Lua. Since there were five of us, we ordered food to share.
Ordering is done at counter via a computer pad.
Although Lua was out of many things on their menu, the food we ordered was abundant and delicious.
We had pork bao, fried chicken bao (a must), Tamarin chicken wings (my favorite) fish sauce wings, a pork rice dish, and beef rib served on a sizzling plate.
I would go definitely back on a latter date.

Vegetarian Food Review: The new vegan pho is good. The chive soup is delicious. The lemongrass tofu bao is really good. The flavors have changed a bit for sure and customer service needs a lot more work.

THIS IS NEITHER A RESTAURANT NOR A BAR. IT’S A DOORDASH / UBER EATS KITCHEN YOU CAN SIT AT. THERE IS LITERALLY NO SERVICE. They mostly take online orders. In-person customers order using a QR code and are treated like we’re ordering delivery. There’s no table service (they don’t even bring you water or utensils). Storage boxes are in the main dining area. The staff seem depressed. The meat they serve with the pho is weirdly precooked / grilled (I’ve never seen grilled meat in pho). I can only speculate that they do this since they primarily do delivery and can’t deliver raw meat. Again, I would never call this a restaurant. Don’t trust any reviews that give 5 stars for service to this place.
