10 out of 10. Everything was delicious. This place really exceeded our expectations on quality, service, and atmosphere. It has a very beautiful outside patio that gives nature vibes. We had the steak tartar, pierogies, Bavarian pork shank, liver & onions [which I usually never order outside of making myself at home]. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. Everything was amazing! If I could I would eat here every day.

The Polish Bistro on Irving Park Road is a hidden gem, offering incredible Polish comfort food. Whether you choose to dine at the bar, in the separate dining area, or the fantastic beer garden, the experience is delightful. My kids particularly love the casual atmosphere of the beer garden. We went there for the first time (my wife, her mother, and I) after hearing some good things from friends. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. I ordered the Ruskie Pierogi, which somehow came out sweet. Potatoes and cheese… sweet. When we pointed this out to our server (Eliszka), we were told with a straight face that it was “the pepper’s fault.” Sure. That explains everything. (As well because I had them fried we were told that that’s another reason why they were sweet)
When it came time to pay, we politely asked to have the pierogi removed from the bill since we’d already sent them back to the kitchen. Apparently, that was a problem and it was not brought to our attention when we mentioned it to our server. Our server insisted she couldn’t take them off because, according to her, “there was nothing wrong with them” because that’s just how they’re supposed to taste. Which is funny, because I’ve had Ruskie Pierogi at countless Polish restaurants in Chicago and in Poland itself over the years, and not once have they ever been sweet. No matter if they were fried or not. So that excuse? Not exactly convincing.
After a bit of back and forth, the pierogi were eventually taken off the bill but not before we were told that “next time” we shouldn’t order because they won’t do that. Spoiler alert: there won’t be a next time anyway.
And the cherry on top? As our lovely server turned her back to walk away, we clearly heard her mutter, “Whatever.” And I will not mention what she said while checking us out. Just because music is playing doesn’t mean we don’t hear what the server is saying.
Now does that customer service really makes you want to come back?

The Polish bistro serves authentic Polish food in good sized portions. The atmosphere is lively and friendly, with decor that evokes a more rustic atmosphere than the hustle and bustle of the street it resides on. This restaurant is definitely worth the drive if you don’t live nearby. This will probably be a new staple for date nights with my girlfriend.

Greatest selection of Polish food – always taste and smell so good, beautiful garden and friendly atmosphere. My personal favorite chicken breast with veggies (only in special:) potatoes pancakes with stew and all desserts, so yummy!

I live about ten minutes from here, my dad and I really enjoy it. Agata, the bartender, is super sweet! Plenty of variety to choose from on the menu as well. I personally love a bit of everything, so I had the polish plate!
