Have you visited Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken? This little place is located on Van Buren in downtown Phoenix. I can’t say enough how crispy, tender, juicy, and flavorful the chicken always is. I recently tried their fried catfish and it was just as delicious. Their seasoning recipe has a kick to it and they never fail to deliver a crispy chicken. Their fixings are great; I’ve tried all of them and favor their collard greens and fried okra. What I love about them is that the chicken is always fresh. They cook it until you order it. I also enjoy their deserts- I’m a chocolate chess and sweet potato pie girl. Their establishment is very cozy and there’s plenty of seating. I enjoy their decor and ambience. Staff is phenomenal. They’re attentive, respectful, and always greet and serve you with a smile. Been visiting for years and have never been disappointed. The recipe is consistent, quality of food is always on point, staff always puts their best foot forward and the price is extremely reasonable. Overall impressed with the restaurant and highly recommend!

I live over an hour away but will make the drive with my husband just to eat the chicken! It not only looks sooooo good it tastes even better! Perfect crispy, light but crunchy, flavor gots that hint of spicy but not spicy you can’t eat it, just good flavor! They make it to order so you do have to wait but it’s worth the wait! And their sweet tea is bomb! Perfect ration of sugar! Never weak and never too sweet! The staff are always friendly and engaging! Make the drive and try the chicken and sweet tea! I’ve had this location a few times, my most recent visit was a Thursday evening. The only issue I have is the size of the pieces of chicken can vary from visit to visit. I have received well below average sized pieces to average sized pieces. The service is good. The chicken is always fresh and flavorful. There’s a couple of tvs tuned to sports if you dine in. The sweet tea, baked beans, and mac & cheese are good options to try.

This place was a pleasant treat. If your in a rush a recommend ordering ahead and taking it Togo, but if you have the time to sit each and chat your experience will be nothing but pleasant. The waitress are nice and the food is oh so good. I got a fried chicken breast and thigh and the breast was just as juicy as the thigh!

Has a great homemade feel to it, the staff is really friendly, Lunches are ALWAYS busy so there’s a lot of hustle and hustle. Despite the name, the menu is pretty extensive, and the prices are solid too. You get your money’s worth. I only got a side of fries for my first visit (had a time crunch) but look forward to coming back and exploring the menu.

The last time I ate at a Gus’s was in Long Beach, CA. Today with John & Tyrell as the best ever open kitchen crew and Estehpanie up front, it was as good as that LB Gus’s. I miss them so it was a very terrific dinner. I asked if the other restaurants were the same ownership, and John said “yes and they’re great”. I’ve been around restaurant industry & business many years and my opinion of the owners is the same: nobody was rushed into bringing out undercooked chicken or sloppy service: the plating was great. The place is very clean, with plenty of parking and great lighting. We were warmly welcomed, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We mentioned it was our first time there, and they took the time to explain the menu to me and my kids. The chicken was super crispy and juicy, spicy and delicious flavor.
