YIN JI CHANG FEN 銀記腸粉
Reviews
The chang fen is just as good as I remembered it. Super soft slurpy skin outside and fillings are packed full of flavor. You can pick from shrimp, pork, beef or a combo of two and other varieties. It’s like a meal in itself. They also have congee of different types. To go with the congee, order the fried dough and dip it into the congee or soy milk. Best combo ever. We also ordered the soy sauce noodle, it was on point.
This is a soft opening and line was long. So give yourself some extra time.
Food: Everything we ordered basically tasted as good as these simpler comfort food can taste, but it is a treat to find this authentic taste outside of historic Chinatowns. The rice rolls specifically were so springy and fun to eat. This is the type of food you can clear plate after plate.
Service: We went pretty soon after opening and there are some service aspects they can continue to improve on like queue management and the seating arrangement.
Atmosphere: In a way the noise and hectic energy was nostalgic. The constant bustle of families wrangling their kids and food service really floods the small space. But without that nostalgic veneer and the joy of seeing family’s where you might have been decades ago, the dining experience can definitely be more streamlined and customer friendly.
The place itself is smaller, with multiple tables, but a majority of them only seating 2 people. The service is quick and efficient, and the food comes out quickly.
We got the pork jook and multiple of the rice rolls. The rice rolls aren’t too oily and have a good flavor, maybe a lil bland without the soy sauce, but is still pretty good. The jook does have a slight ginger scent, but contains no ginger within it. It also is on the soupy side, not overly thick. Portion size is big, and has a good ratio of toppings within it.
The rice rolls were silky and thin. They are generous with the fillings too. Same with the congee!
The space is fairly small so they’re probably going to be a wait during lunch rush.
My favorite was the Beef & Shrimp Rice Rolls and Boat Congee
