J. Cody Whitten, proprietor, grew up in College Station and Snook working in his father’s Ag Aviation business with his two brothers. His older brother, Brett, who learned to fly at the age of 13 took over his father’s business and can still be seen dodging power lines and spraying crops in the Brazos River Bottom. His younger brother, Beau, carried on the family tradition of flying but took a different route becoming a Navy pilot chasing submarines and now flies for Southwest Airlines.

Finally got around to taking the family here for dinner and we were not disappointed. First off, for those of us old enough to remember, it’s in the old terminal at Easterwood. It has a very unique old school airport vibe, decorated in tons of aircraft and airport pictures and memorabilia with a touch of Texas A&M. Our server (forgot his name, I am so sorry) was amazing. He was always available when we needed him, our drinks never went empty and he made excellent recommendations. I had the Chicken fried chicken and it was on point, My wife had the beef stroganoff and my son had the shrimp and grits, all were delicious and great portions. We loved watching the airplanes take off and land at night. We Weill definitely return.

Watching the planes land and take off was great. But the food was the bomb! Service was excellent! The butter served with the sweet potato waffle fries was so good. The infused oils with the bread was amazing. Will definitely take my husband and family.

The atmosphere and food were great. We had the Ruben sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries and the chicken fried steak with green beans and mash potatoes. They were hot and great. It is probably the best Ruben I have had with superiority tender meat. I knocked the service to 4 stars. It was good and the staff were nice and attentive, but it seemed more forced as a upscale place than a laid back nice place. I’ll go back, so don’t knock for that point. If you like watching planes, they do have seating right of the tarmac, and it is a great place for small and large parties. We could get in without a reservation, but I recommend one if you are unsure on how busy they will be.

One of my favorite spots to visit. It has a lively atmosphere where you can enjoy a great meal while watching planes land and take off.
The menu offers a wide range of excellent options, you really can’t go wrong with anything you choose.

I had the Apricot Horseradish Glazed Salmon at Gate 12 and it was absolutely outstanding. The salmon was perfectly cooked — flaky, moist, and full of flavor. The apricot glaze added just the right touch of sweetness, and the horseradish gave it a subtle kick that balanced everything beautifully. You can tell real care goes into the preparation.
What made the evening even better was being seated right along the runway and watching the sunset. Seeing the planes with that golden Texas sky in the background made the whole experience unforgettable. Great food, incredible atmosphere, and one of the most unique dining spots in College Station, Texas. Highly recommend.

The food was excellent! It was an interesting (in a good way) menu and our experience was excellent. We flew in, so it was very convenient. Our waitress Kate C mentioned it was her first brunch, which was surprising. She did a great job- enthusiastic and attentive. We will be back!

Gate 12 never disappoints! I first learned about Gate 12 through my student organization, and I have been a fan ever since. I will always try to take friends, family, and those who haven’t tried here. They always leave impressed. My favorite meal is the chicken fried chicken, and it’s always amazing. The views from the airport are always an entertaining sight. I totally recommend eating here if you are looking for a local spot to eat.
The only suggestion I would make is to add bike parking. The new supper street design allows me to bike to the restaurant, and I had to chain my bike to a nearby pole. I still had a great experience, but would like to see some potential accommodations for bikes.

I’d rate it less than 1 if it would let me. My wife and I were celebrating our 41st anniversary. It was my first time at the restaurant. What should have been a great time was an abhorrent disaster.
9pm reservations…waited 10mins at the hostess station only to not get a table on the runway. 2 guys that came in 5mins after us were seated there. Waited another 8-10mins for our server to show up. The 2 guys on the runway, served before us.
My wife’s steak burger ($25) was charred on the outside and had spots of bright pink meat in it. Fries were passably warm.
My dinner consisted of a charred/burned on one side chicken fried steak, cold baked potato that didnt even melt the butter or cheese and cold Codycorn.
Manager took my entree off the bill, which is the least that should be done. Offered us dessert, out of half of them.
The worst part of all was having to look at my wife who was very sad that I didn’t get a meal. Thank you JCody and Gate 12 for robbing us of our once in a lifetime celebration.!!!

We came to Gate 12 during a work trip, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations! From now on, this will be our go-to restaurant anytime we’re in College Station. The atmosphere was unique and inviting—we were seated right by the windows and had the best view of planes taxiing, taking off, and landing.
Our waiter, Alex, was fantastic! We had such a great conversation with him, and his service made our experience even better. The food was delicious—perfectly cooked fettuccine and crispy chicken fried steak, both flavorful, and we finished with crème brûlée for dessert.

For a dining experience that truly takes off, 12th Gate Bar & Grill in College Station, Texas, offers a unique and memorable setting that’s a must-see for anyone visiting Aggieland. Located right at the airport on George Bush Dr W, this isn’t just a restaurant you stumble upon; it’s a destination, giving you incredible runway views of planes taxiing and taking off right before your eyes.
I recently tried their Chicken Fried Steak plate. While it was certainly okay and hit the spot, it wasn’t the best I’ve had in Texas, perhaps not quite soaring to the heights of some other local favorites.
However, the food takes a backseat to the absolute highlight here: the location. Watching the aircraft against the College Station sky provides a unique and even romantic backdrop, making it perfect for a special date night or a team dinner. The atmosphere is genuinely engaging, offering a fantastic and unique dining experience that goes beyond just the meal itself. The fantastic service and the sheer novelty of the airport setting truly elevate 12th Gate Bar & Grill into a standout spot in the Brazos Valley.
Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or just looking for a truly different place to enjoy a meal with an unbeatable view, 12th Gate Bar & Grill is definitely worth the visit.
