NEW CHARLESTON RESTAURANT Craving Italian cuisine done …
Reviews
I ordered the lasagna, while he had the bow tie pesto pasta with added chicken and a Mediterranean pizza with steak. The food was very good overall. While the center of the pizza crust was a bit soggy, the flavor was still excellent.
Despite being very busy when we arrived, we were seated almost immediately. The food did take some time to come out, but the restaurant was full, which was understandable. The only service issue we experienced was at the end of the meal. Although most tables were empty by then, it took quite a while to receive our check, and my husband eventually went to the counter to request it.
Overall, it was a great experience, and we will definitely be back.
Service was solid and the food was genuinely good. Portions were large and the pricing was very reasonable for Italian. Our total was only $56 with tip for an appetizer and two entrees, plus dessert was free.
Overall, great experience, great value, and we will be back.
This place and their food and staff are amazing. You may wait a little bit getting seated and for the food, but please be patient. Things take time to cook properly. This place just opened and they’re doing their best (which I think is great)! It’s worth the wait. The food is freaking AMAZING. They have a very large menu: pasta, seafood, subs, pizza, calzone, pepperoni rolls, steak rolls, stromboli, and more! Please, give them a try and keep this place is business.
They’re supposed to be in a soft opening, but have wondered into the territory of an amazing restaurant opening in an area with a dire need of good places to eat! Please be patient while they get their feet under them, because this is worth the wait!
Upon entering, we did wait a bit at the entrance to be greeted, but we could see all of the tables were full and it looked like everyone had came in and ordered at the same time. This was the first Saturday of their opening.
The staff were buzzing around trying to make sure everyone was happy and had something to eat or drink refills. Luckily, I was able to sneak up to the bar area (I don’t know if they intend to sell alcohol but it didn’t appear they were yet). The owner ended up taking our order, and I’ve placed an image of each meal. The sandwich came with chips (lays), but my kiddo stole them so they’re not in the picture. Hopefully they’ll end up making their own chips one day, I can only imagine how good they’d be. You’re looking at $10-$20 per person, but I think all of the prices are beyond fair.
Now onto the food…wow.
I ordered the chicken parm sub with spicy sauce. My family ordered the other items listed… the bread on each of the calzone, pepperoni roll, and margherita pizza are more fluffy with a mild crunch rather than the traditional chewy / harder pizza bread. It was amazing. How do I know? Yes…I took a bite of everyone else’s, but to be fair i shared mine too! The sauce, banana peppers, cheese and pepperoni were all mouth watering on each and every item (and every bite). My wife couldn’t stop complimenting the cheese on that pizza…not to even mention the fact that my son with the pepperoni roll had a cheese pull further than his arms could extend…I missed the picture ;(
How was the chicken parm? Well….anything with drizzled melted butter on top of a perfectly toasted crunchy sub vessel containing marinera (I didn’t ask but which I can only imagine was made there) crispy chicken (that was not tough or stringy) and melt in your mouth cheese is worth waiting for.
I asked what the owner recommended and he said the Spicy Penne, which sounded amazing, but the bartender mentioned the chicken parm. I knew I could heat up the penne so I took his word for it and order them both with the penne to go. I’m so glad I did. Before leaving, I dipped into it with gluttonous rage and realized that this place is no joke. The sauce, color, penne noodle, mushrooms …. it was all SO GOOD. I had to force myself to stop “tasting” it so I could bring it home.
We also left with 3 desserts, because I just wanted to try everything.
PLEASE…COME HERE….WAIT / BE PATIENT WITH THEM….ENJOY!
Updating: I had to add another picture! Owner brought us dessert tonight. Everything was once again FANTASTIC! This dessert is a must!!
Here’s another recommendation for this newer resturant….train the wait staff to understand that asking once or twice if everything is OK is sufficient. Not, every two minutes. EZ fix. The food prep is still a little slow, but everything is fresh made and that’s to be expected. Rushing the food out a little faster will help insure the “business lunch crowd” going and getting in and out in under an hour.
PRICES: Very reasonable and will not break the bank. I predict that this resturant becomes a busy place and growing into a most favorite eating destination.
Travelers on Rts 64, or 77/79 can get off the 58C exit in Charleston WV and go 2 1/2 blocks west on Washington St W. It’s on the left side. EZ OFF / EZ BACK ON. Street parking either on Washington or one of the side streets.
Folks, you really ought to try this new Italian restaurant. I think that you’ll like it!
2/24/2026: Stopped for lunch and had a ricotta, mozzarella, and ham calzone….medium size. It was sprinkled all over the top with garlic powder that was not listed in the menu. I drive rideshare and don’t want garlic breath. It also overwhelmed tasting the rest of the calzone. The ham was also a Virginia ham and that was about the only other flavor tasted. Boiled ham is a better choice. There was not much ricotta either….just a thin spread of it across the base inside the dough. Overall, I didn’t think much of this calzone, (See photos below). It was in stark contrast to the lasagna and chicken parmesan we had the first time here.
Another suggestion I’d like to pass along is to get some employees to smile. I didn’t observe a single employee smile here the entire time i was there. That makes for an uncomfortable feel while there. I know this place has lots if pluses. Kinks have to sometimes be ironed out in a new restaurant, and need to be addressed. With some work and corrections, I’m sure it’ll become that hidden gem.
