An authentic Pho in Gainesville

I visited Gainesville to attend classes at UF and I was surprised to find this place in the area. Pleasantly surprised.

I actually found it by accident because we went to the business right next to it for some Mochi Mochi and then I saw it and there is always a second stomach for Pho.

I visited this place in a Saturday afternoon and it was not crowded at all. The hostess showed us the menu for us to explore dining options and then took us to our table.

I ordered of course, Pho, with tripe and brisket. It arrived to the table in about 10 minutes. Good portion size for soup, meats and noodles. The broth was delicious. Thin consistency with meaty flavors. Noodles well cooked and same with the meats.

I think this is a 5 stars basically because of the food. Atmosphere and service, not bad, but not great.

Great and authentic Pho. Everything is fresh and service is as you would expect from a real Vietnamese restaurant. Highly recommended.

Yes I recommend. We were at Paynes Prairie Wildlife Reserve and afterwards we felt Vietnamese. Google quickly led us to this place about 4 miles away and we are so pleased
We have book marked it into Waze for when we return.
I ordered the House Special Pork Fried Rice and let me tell you it was yummy and temperature hot. It’s a pet peeve of mine, cold food or semi warm food. House Special Pork Fried Rice came out of the Kitchen Steaming Hot! Thank you. You know when it’s so good, it stops you dead in your track? Well that’s how I felt. I am now hooked on Vietnamese food. I live in Orlando, Florida so I will have to go to Vietnam-town on Colonial. I spoke with the young man and this is a Family Restaurant. I gave my compliments to Grandma who was cooking in the back.
Please definitely go to here if you want a great meal in a nice environment.

We went for lunch today! My husband had the Thai Curry! He said it was good! I had a rice bowl and I didn’t like it at all! The “grilled chicken ” on the top was dry and didn’t taste good! I wasn’t aware it wasn’t a hot meal, so the lukewarm rice noodles were a turn off! The waiter took it back, but said we wouldn’t be able to trade it for another dish! I reluctantly ordered chicken fried rice! It was ok! It made me mad that we paid double for my meal; so it was an expensive lunch and nothing great! They did end up crediting us $4.! I would never go back! No thank you!!!!!

Although the restaurant has good reviews, my experience was underwhelming. We ordered the spring rolls, combination beef pho, rice vermicelli with grilled pork, and beef fried rice for dinner. The food took quite a while to arrive. The fried rice was probably the most enjoyable dish, as it was simple and well prepared. The spring rolls were mostly vegetables and came with a dipping sauce that was quite salty. The vermicelli included pork that was very thin and soft, and the “grilled” aspect was missing entirely. The beef pho was acceptable, but it reminded me more of instant noodles than a restaurant-quality dish. Overall, it wasn’t bad enough to complain, but not good enough that I’d come back.

Found this place when another pho place was closed and I was craving pho so bad and I can’t believe this place is only 3.9 stars!! I’ve come here 3 days in a row now and it’s delicious. Service is fast and the flavors are great. Also tried the pan fried dumpling and they were really delicious as well. Definitely worth a try! Very clean and big dining area, absolutely a new favorite of mine. 🙂

First time coming to Pho Ha Noi, a friend had recommended the Bun Bo Hue to me and I’d say that the broth is unique compared to other spots in the area that serve this specific soup noodle dish. It’s more on the savory side if that’s what you prefer.

Service-wise, very subpar. We were greeted at the front and sat ourselves, no menus were given until I had stood up and asked for 2 menus myself. As seen from the photo, they had not given us any of the typical toppings of the lemongrass, beansprouts, lime slices, and peppers that usually come with this dish, nor did they give us a spoon to drink the soup with. I had to request for this after they had not returned for some time.

If I were to comeback it would be to pickup the dish instead of dining-in and ordering from the establishment itself.

Probably the best pho you can get in Gainesville. The broth was decent, but the thin slices of rare beef were not rare by the time the bowl arrived to the table. Bun bowl was ok, but the egg rolls were a little burnt. The bahn mi was smaller than what I expected and not too impressive, probably won’t get it again. The crispy chicken wings were dry. About the only thing I would order again is the pho. Service was friendly and we didn’t wait long for food. Prices are reasonable.

This was the worst dining experience I’ve had in a long time. Between 4 adults, ordered 8 banh mi sandwiches which were tiny, had the thinnest slice (just one ☝ !) of meat inside each + massive chunks of jalapeños and were mostly just bread, the dumplings were soggy and a few didn’t even have any stuffing in them! We also ordered 3x Vietnamese nems which are supposed to be fried, and are served with lettuce and mint leaves but they gave us 6 summer rolls instead (clear wrapped rolls with shrimp). Should have known when a white guy came out the back to take the order—not nice but it’s true lol.

There is a HUGE staffing issue. One server in the whole Resturant? Why? I love the food here but the fact that I waited 30 min and multiple tables were helped before me that were there well after me is not ok. And to not even apologize or even while we were sitting there to be greeted is crazy to me. Fix the staffing issue and maybe you’d have a better turn around.
