If you like seafood, you will love Max’s. We were passing through Chippewa Falls and after a quick search and reading reviews, we decided to stop here. Max’s is in a convenient location with plenty of parking. As soon a we walked in we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The menu had an excellent selection (including many gluten-free options) with food I would describe as seafood with a Latin flare. Everything we had was delicious, and fresh, which is so important with regards to seafood. Overall all I plan on coming here anytime I’m in the area. 10 out of 10!

This was our first time dining here. We walked in without a reservation at 5 pm on a Friday evening. Fortunately we were seated immediately but I would suggest making a reservation. The crab enchiladas were delicious!

This place was recommended to us when we arrived to town. Delicious seafood entrees in a small, quiet downtown location.

Fantastic find. After the miserable Casa Mexicana experience the day before, this was an amazing breath of fresh air. Staff are very friendly, and prompt. My wife and I split the street nachos and blackened sea bass. The nachos were great, but the sea bass was outstanding. This is a must if you are in the area and up for a Mexican seafood fusion place. Excellent all the way around. Also, great ventilation throughout the restaurant. Loved it.

Wonderful red snapper tacos and homemade flan. My husband’s seafood nachos outstanding as well. We spend 6 months a year on Gulf coast so hesitate to order seafood up north, but it was perfectly prepared and delicious.

In addition, the restaurant was very cute in a vintage building and service was great. Highly recommend.

We stopped for lunch on a Saturday without understanding that this is a Mexican Seafood restaurant. A pleasant surprise! There is a small bar in front by the entry which would be great for a quick happy hour drink. There are A lot of seafood options which is hard to find. My husband had the mussels and loved them, large mussels and a big serving. We shared the calamari and it was tasty with a medium weight batter and flavorful dipping sauce. I had the pulled chicken tacos which were seasoned with Mexican spices. The beans were flavorful but the rice was pretty plain. One thing to note, for Mexican food, the spice level is low, like Midwest Nice, not very spicy. We definitely plan to come back for dinner to try the sea bass.

For context: we ordered a Filet Mignon w/ Mushroom and Red Wine Sauce and a Surf & Turf with Scallops.

First off, the sides caught us off guard, as they only offered beans and rice and steamed vegetables. Something that accompanied the main dish better would have been appreciated and we ended up ordering an additional side of French fries which we must say, were extremely good but also overpriced at $4 for a handful.

The drinks we ordered (Mojito and G&T) were delicious, although they forgot the Coconut in the mojito. The service was very good and while they were running behind, we were kept up to speed on the status of our drinks and meals.

Finally, the main courses lean heavily on spices and seasonings, almost too much. The meat of the NY Strip, Scallops and Filet were incredibly plain and were carried heavily by the sauces and seasonings. The initial flavor is incredible until you chew it (and chew it you do) for a while and realize there’s nothing under the veil of sauce and spices on top.

Maybe other options are better, we were just not completely satisfied with our choices, especially at the triple digit price tag.
