There were so many negative reviews, many similar to mine, highlighting poor food and service at this restaurant. Despite this, Gadsden Food and Service Reviews removed my post, even though it was a first-hand account intended to raise awareness.

Barney’s Roadhouse – 4405 Journey Place, Gadsden, AL 35904

This was the worst dining experience we’ve ever had.

We ordered steaks—medium rare for my fiancé and well done for me—and every single one was unacceptable:
• The first steak was completely gray, smelled rotten, and was sent back.
• The second steak was barely seared and not cooked to order.
• The third steak was the same.

By this point, my fiancé refused to eat, and my replacement steak still had a raw, sour smell with charred exterior.

Additionally:
• My baked potato came without butter, and the waitress never stopped long enough for us to request anything.
• The menu claims to serve Wagyu beef, which it clearly was not. The menus themselves were dirty, with thick fingerprints, adding to the unsanitary environment.
• The prices are far too high for poor service and unsafe food.

We were provided a video of the food, but it’s unclear if it’s actually our steak. My fiancé ordered medium rare, which in the video is shown with a plain baked potato, while I ordered a fully loaded baked potato. The potato in the video is dry and plain, which does not match what I ordered, further confirming that this may not be our meal.

The video also shows the waitress handling the meat barehanded, which is against standard food safety regulations. According to FDA guidelines:
• Raw meat should be handled with gloves or utensils.
• Hands and utensils must be clean and sanitized to avoid cross-contamination.
• Ready-to-eat foods should never come into contact with contaminated surfaces or unwashed hands.

The way the steaks were handled at this restaurant violates basic food safety rules and is extremely concerning. We will not be returning, and we strongly caution others about the risks.

Just to clarify: our experience stands on its own, regardless of who else frequents this restaurant or knows the owner. This was our first and last visit. Photos and video cannot convey the smell, but anyone looking can clearly see the poor quality and unsafe handling of the meat.

This post is intended to raise awareness and ensure the restaurant meets basic standards for food safety and hygiene.

Had a big group of 6, we had 6 different dishes, with all the drinks like water coffee and tea. I do have to say the food was good. The staff was great however I say the service was no faster or slower with our group as the restaurant wasn’t very busy. The staff did charge the 20% tip fee required for a party of six. I would say I would not have anymore than 5 people in your group because the 20% tip charge gratuity if you will wasn’t worth it. I won’t say my meal was cold but it wasn’t hot either. For 20% I do expect almost perfection. Like I said the food was good and the staff was great. I would go here again however not in any group larger than 5. 20% is too much with cost of the 30 dollar plus per person meal charge. It inflation.

Well, I was gonna try the restaurant out for the first time tonight checked online. Said it was gonna be open today. No postage on any doors or windows that they’re closed for Super Bowl Sunday nothing online. There’s still nice folks waiting outside to get in because the restaurant has not communicated that they are closed. This is probably the stupidest reason for a one star review but communicate to your customers that you’re not open .

Jan 27 update. Went back and had a great dinner. Service was a little faster, but not by much, but everyone was friendly. A great steak dinner
Everything tasted amazing but dinner took forever. Service was slow. With dinner taking 50 mins to arrive, I was a little upset but again everything tasted great with my dinner. My wife thought her Fish and chips was ok. Wasn’t fresh but we are in central Oregon and I don’t think the fish guy is stopping here daily.

An absolutely phenomenal steak dinner! And a tasty dessert to boot! The only problem we had was the service since they had a huge party to attend to we had to wait a bit for most of our orders. The food is worth it.

My first time eating here. Service was good. Portions were on the smaller side though. It was okay but I don’t know that we could afford to eat here often. My husband had pasta and it was good but every pasta dish should have a piece of bread or roll with it for dipping up the sauce. Definitely need reservations because it is a popular place.

The streaks are good, the portions are big, the service is quick and friendly. The kids loved picking out of the treasure bag.

We were turned away with 3 people, 3 hours before closing. No wait-list, nothing. The 1 time we were able to eat here the food was okay. Apparently way more hit-or-miss than we imagined. We’ll stick to club pioneer.
