Where to start? Well, I’m glad to say this is a very good restaurant when it comes to service and their food! Something difficult to find in this small town and surrounding area.

My Husband and I came here for a late lunch with my cousin and his girlfriend. It was SO good! The portions are very generous. The staff is so kind and attentive. I got to meet the owner and she helped us pick the right meal for us!
There are so many options to choose from. I got panchos (very filling) and the toppings were amazing. My husband got tacos matamoros, and they were so good. I got to try one and I actually wanted an order for myself. The food came out really fast and the environment was really clean as well as cozy!
My cousin got a fajita plate which looked amazing. It came with flour tortillas to make your own tacos.
His girlfriend got a chicken plate with this green creamy cilantro sauce. I got to try it and the flavors were amazing!
We actually live in Pharr, it’s a drive but it’s totally worth it. We are definitely coming back!

First visit to Carmelitas in Elsa, TX. Carnitas was delicious. Attentive server. Tasty Mexican empanada for dessert. Don’t like canned coke. Prices were decent. Decorations were not arranged very well. Empty wall spaces wall partitions didn’t divide space appropriately. Pastry cabinet was very inviting. Good. Some place to eat regularly with good food.

First time trying this place and the Food was great! I had the tacos matamoros and they were amazing! I would highly recommend. It was far from where I live but it was worth it! Our server was excellent and got to meet the owner which she had recommended what plate to get! Really nice people.

I got the Fajita Monterrey plate, it was super filling. The food was absolutely amazing. The fajita was cooked so good! Also the service was so good! They were very attentive and helpful! I also love the atmosphere, they are playing Christian music and it is very life giving!

Good restaurant, good lighting and good atmosphere. The food is great and reasonably priced with specials listed at the entrance. It’s a mid sized restaurant and there is enough staff that if you need something there is always someone nearby to ask

Second time dining at this restaurant. Was giving it the benefit of the doubt, because we went when it first opened , but was very disappointed still. Service was not the the best. In my opinion it was lousy. We were not greeted, we found our own table, waited for about 10 minutes before being approached to take our drink orders, another 5 minutes before we were handed a menu. Sorry to say food was tasteless, bland, potatoes were under cooked. Atmosphere was fine, family oriented, some prices were fair while others seemed overpriced. Seems like waitresses concentrated more on cleaning than greeting or attending their customers. Also notice customers had to wait in line cause cashier never seemed to be at register or anywhere near to charge. We will not be taking our business there any longer.

Food was ok, nothing special…not amazing but not horrible either. Went with some coworkers the other day and that was a unanimous feeling along with the prices being too high for what you get. The food was pretty expensive for the portions..6 street tacos (tiny) with no sides, a can of soda, and a side of charro beans (since there were no sides) came out to $17. I understand in this economy prices have to go up but was definitely expecting a larger serving for the price. This is just me comparing the prices vs what you get compared to other restaurants. Probably wouldn’t come again.
