Five Rice Restaurant is present by Moy’s restaurant Moy’s has served the Elkhorn and Walworth County area for over 40 years. This Grandfather Restaurant was the first Chinese restaurant in the area. Owner, Paul Moy, has been involved in the restaurant industry since he was 16 years old. Paul’s extensive experience has allowed him to create his own recipes using a unique cooking style combining his continental cuisine skills with Cantonese and Mandarin styles. Now we open our second location in the city of Mukwonago.

Different but not in a good way. I love new food & while chens is ok its really just average as chinese food goes, so despite the reviews (maybe it was teething pains i thought) I wanted to give five rice a chance. The food is very different than what is considered american chinese cuisine, & i would have been fine with if it was flavorful but it wasnt. The egg roll is more like a samaosa? a very mild curry flavor with peanut butter…the problem was the texture was just a mushy paste. The general tso chicken was cooked fine, not dry at all, but the sauce isnt a general tso sauce & wasnt flavored. It was very heavy in amount, very thick in consitency, & seemed like a tomato based sauce? And it had no spice even though it said hot. It had a slight ketchup flavor & tastes more like a cheap bbq sauce, it was ok but not good. The vegetable lo mein isnt lo mein noodles (maybe chow mein?) which i would have been ok with if they told you but they dont & the sauce wasnt lo mein flavors either, in fact it wasnt flavored at all. The vegetables were cooked well & lots of variety so that was nice but not a soy based sauce, the sauce was a thick white flour sauce (see pics) that was flavorless. My husband got chicken with pea pods, it also had nice chicken & cooked vegetables but the sauce was the same bland white sauce as on the lo mein. We couldnt figure out what the sauce was other than broth & flour maybe, not even garlic or onion. Well now i can say I tried them but unfortuatly cant say i will go again. Prices were average & no issues there. i ordered online which were the same price as in the menu we received. There is a convienece fee added with my online order but i could see that before checking out.

Thank you for saving our Thanksgiving! Our baby is not feeling well so we could not go to our family’s house. Thankful this was open and my family enjoyed the food. My husband picked it up and he said the staff was very friendly.

This is the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Wish Imperial House was still here. Now the next best thing is Fangs. I would rather drive 35 minutes to Waukesha to pick up Fangs than 5 minutes to Five Rice in Mukwonago. Don’t waste your $$ at Five Rice. If you complain about the terrible food they won’t care.

The Pork Egg Rolls were shortened so they’d fit in a1/2 pint container. There wasn’t any sautéed cabbage; a must have to me. They were filled with some sort of packed ground meat.
The Pork Egg Foo Yung was the shape and size of a quarter pounder. It too had the mystery ground meat, and there were mystery string things too – not sprouts -they were long and tough and crunchy. No visible egg, bean sprouts, pork pieces, or peas.

Ordered our usual but when I got home the lo mein was chow mein so my husband wouldn’t eat it and was mad. So what a waste of $20, I guess we will not be ordering here anymore bc the last thing I feel like doing after a long day is digging thru the food bag at pickup to make sure order is right. I didn’t realize it was so difficult to get an order right!

absolutely loved this restaurants food I’m very picky about Chinese because I don’t like my meat to be fatty or fake tasting and everything we had was on the mark excellent!! we tried crab ragoons, the house chicken absolutely love it, chicken fried rice then there was like a beef broccoli. We’ve tried everything we had was excellent and fast and very courteous! you’re gonna love this place!

This was our second time here…It is a very quaint place for delicious Chinese food. I know they emphasize on carry out but their small dining room is very clean and the service is wonderful. It’s now my daughter’s and my favorite place. It’s worth the 20 minute drive.
My daughter is a picky eater and she loves the chicken with pea pods meal with the white rice.
I had the Kung Pao chicken and the flavor and veggies are very good however my chicken tasted reheated. But my daughter’s was delicious. Hot tea is good. I saw some of the other negative reviews but We all have a different palette, so give it a try for yourself. We will definitely be back.

I have ordered a couple times now and love it! chicken chow fun is excellent! Very fresh! Lots of real chicken and not greasy. That being said I just picked up chicken chow fun a few weeks later. The noodles were gross. All stuck together, like they were leftover. They tasted very odd so needless to say they went in the trash. Do they look appetizing to anyone? If you want to be successful you need to be consistent with your quality.

We ordered sweet and sour chicken and broccoli chicken. Both were very good but would like a few more veggies in the sweet and sour sauce. I will ask then about additional veggies next time. This was a “take out order”. Service was great and we will order again. Thank you for coming to Mukwonago.

Ordered carry out for the first time from Five Rice via Doordash which was super convenient. It was prepared and ready quickly and accurately. The staff member who helped me was friendly even though our interaction was brief.
The chicken with cashews was a tad bland but the vegetables tasted fresh and the chicken was tender. The fried rice and spring rolls were excellent.
The interior could use a touch of pizazz if you’re dining in but my carry out experience was great.
