I placed a to-go order of spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread as appetizer. When the order was ready, I noticed how lightweight the bag was. I opened the small box containing the spaghetti and meatballs and I couldn’t believe my eyes that I was paying $26 for this amount of food. I mentioned it to the host, who tried to explain the quality vs quantity ratio, and that they are not a “traditional” Italian restaurant – which I knew since I’m playing $26 for pasta. He offered to reimburse the bill, which was nice, but I said no thanks and took my order. The food was a bit underwhelming and spicy, which I don’t understand why. I wanted to share it with my 2-year old and I couldn’t because of that.

Underwhelming.

Some of our friends have recommended this place over the years & we finally decided to try it & were not super impressed. The food is mostly fine. The risotto tasted fresh but the texture was off & the garlic bread was soft & fluffy with the perfect little bit of crunch. However, I would avoid the linguini. The noodles were undercooked & the flavors don’t come together quite how they should. I think the entrees are overpriced for what they are ($28 for hard linguini & $32 for mushy risotto). I also expressed my dissatisfaction with the linguini & was offered the ability to order something else but was turned off and didn’t want anything else. They also didn’t comp our linguini, which is fine, but I only ate a few bites of it so was a bit surprised.

The best thing about this place was definitely the staff! Everyone was so kind & friendly. Very professional & personable. I didn’t catch our waitresses name but she had short, dark hair & wore two little clips in it with metallic like nails. She was exceptional & I highly recommend requesting her section! There is also a cute outdoor patio seating option.

Delicious food and great service! We got the meatballs and the mozzarella arancini to start, both came out pretty quick and were yummy! Our server was very attentive to our needs. We got the new yorker pizza and Rye Cavatelli, both were the perfect size to not have any leftovers. Ive come here a handful of times and it always is a great time.

Food is good but they are not geared for take out. Just got two old of aranchini (which are fantastic) but neither came with sauce. This is the third time in a year it’s happened. The aranchini are amazing by themselves….so is everything else. If you get take out just check your bag before you to leave. Central Provisions is also excellent.

Portland is a food city, with tons of amazing options. If you’re looking for a real treat, Tipo is a neighborhood place off the peninsula with some of the best food in the city. Never disappoints. Seasonal specials and fresh ingredients. Great atmosphere. Great staff.

Went on a whim. Had the Thyme after thyme cocktail. Delicate and refreshing! The cauliflower dip is the bomb!!!!! Also had the white spinach pizza and the hubs had margarita with roasted mushrooms. Both were delicious and will definitely return.

Our server was soooooo nice and well informed too.

Free parking!

Ordered a white mushroom pizza with veggies and truffles. Should have looked closer at the pricing (that’s on me) the pizza was $40.00! I was charged 19.00 on top of the normal mushroom pizza for a very scant amount of spinach and a few olives. The truffles were an additional 14.00. All of it was burnt so the truffle flavor was completely lost. All and all not tasty, ate half but wasn’t good, but I was enjoying visiting with my friend and didn’t want to complain and dampen the evening. Been here before and like it and will try it again. But this time was a Bummer.

Tipo is in my top 3 restaurants in Portland. Their pastas are spectacular even compared to what you can get while in Italy. They have a few pastas that don’t leave their menu that deserve that treatment such as the rye cavetelli and campenelle. The campenelle is a lighter dish that is perfect. The cavetelli while heavy is spectacular. Whole their pasta is extraudinary their apps, plates, and pizza don’t miss either. House salad shouldn’t be missed, cauliflower dip we don’t ever skip, pizza is also great. Highly recommend the tipo pepperoni. It’s special. Beer and whine list is solid. I would say only critique is their cocktail list while being perfectly acceptable is not something I am overly excited by. They have a full bar and their cocktail menu offers a bit of everything just nothing extraudinary.
