Another solo weekend dim sum brunch, I was in the metro town area, that’s why I picked this one. Haven’t been here for a while, I remember they are not bad. I’m glad that they are still that way.

Food is pretty good similar to the level in Richmond and Hong Kong, may be a little bit below, but still pretty good.

Everything came out hot, Sui mai is pretty good, the BBQ pork rice rolls were good as well.

Service was ok, typical Chinese restaurant service level.

Decor is a bit dated. But overall presentable.

I really enjoyed their dim sum. Fresh, tasty and delicious. The noice level was not too bad. There were many dishes to choose and the portions were very decent. Recommend!

Went to our friend’s wedding reception and the food was surprisingly good. The seafood, especially the lobster and crab, was fresh, and the vegetables were crunchy and well-cooked.

Foods had larger portion. Ha gaou had 5 pieces per plate which is a extra than some other resturant. The beef tendon also was a big portion too. I quite liked the beef daikon clay pot. The beef brisket was tender and very tasty with daikon. I will order this dish again next time.

The service is medicore.

Good dim sum option in Burnaby – fair portion and reasonably priced. Not much of a quality customer service. They were fast with delivery by the food to table, cut things up, no greeting or anything else but still a solid dim sum place.

Our har kau took 70 minutes. Each food item came out 1 by 1, 20 minutes apart. The taste was good but the wait was too long. Service was friendly though.

Good place to have traditional Chinese dianxin cuisine in Burnaby. Better to book early, otherwise need to wait a long time especially during weekend. Cantonese cuisine tastes delicious and authentic. Seafood material is fresh. Price is reasonable, waiters and waitress are nice and check customers frequently whether they need anything or changing plates. Strongly recommend my friends and clients to come here.

We decided to try their dinner menu.

The BBQ roasted duck was on sale during the weekdays so we ordered them. It’s just so so.

Their mixed seafood and meat tofu in a pot was great.

The place was surprisingly busy during a week night and their AC wasn’t good enough so it’s kind of stuffy inside the restaurant.

The servers did not have much service in general. They looked very tired.

Grand Crystal Seafood Restaurant, located in Burnaby’s Crystal Mall, offers a refined Cantonese dining experience with an emphasis on traditional flavours and fresh ingredients. The restaurant features a spacious interior with round banquet-style tables, making it ideal for family gatherings, celebrations, and weekend dim sum outings. Diners are welcomed with carts of freshly prepared dim sum that include popular favourites like har gow (shrimp dumplings), siu mai (pork dumplings), steamed beef balls, and silky rice rolls wrapped around deep-fried Chinese doughnuts.

Beyond dim sum, Grand Crystal serves a wide range of classic Cantonese dishes such as crispy chicken, braised tofu with mushrooms, stir-fried lobster with sticky rice, and sautéed pea tips in garlic. The seafood is notably fresh, often featured in dishes like steamed fish, salt and pepper squid, and seafood hot pots. The staff are attentive and efficient, often recommending dishes and ensuring tea pots are promptly refilled.

With its combination of traditional flavours, comfortable setting, and variety of offerings, Grand Crystal Seafood Restaurant remains a popular choice in the Metrotown area for both everyday meals and special occasions. Whether it’s a leisurely dim sum brunch or a full banquet dinner, the experience is consistently satisfying.

My family was looking for a dim sum place to eat to celebrate my brother’s bday and this restaurant inside Crystal Mall by Metrotown was suggested by my other brother as he had been there before plus had a 10% discount card.

We got there when it pretty pack but pretty spacious inside. We ordered a bunch of items that included (in order of pictures) Steamed Siu Mai, Rice w/Spareribs & Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce, Pan Fried Prawns with Chive Dumplings, Deep Fried Seven Spices Squid Tentacles, Steamed Rice Rolls wraps w/Chinese Donut, Bean Sheet Wraps w/Meat & Enoki in Abalone Sauce, Steamed Prawn Dumplings, Baked Snowy Mountain BBQ Pork Buns, Steamed Beef Balls, and Grand Crystal House Special Chow Mein.

Overall the dim sum was pretty good. Siu Mai & Shrimp dumplings were 5 pieces each which most other dim sum places serve 4 pieces. The highlight was the Deep Fried Squid as it was fried perfectly and seasoned very well.

Will definitely come back for dim sum again.
