one of the best places i have ever eaten!! i have celiac disease and the owner/chef Goran was absolutely amazing and explained that he understood everything about cross-contamination and celiac. the fish and chips are incredible and gluten free (GF batter created by Goran). will without a doubt be back all the time! thank you so much Goran!

This is what you call a Mom n Pop restaurant. The decor very old school and you can tell the restaurant has been around for a long time. The server was very friendly and the food came quite quick. Breakfast was good. My only complaint would be that the bacon was a bit overcooked . Other than that my family enjoyed. Their debit machine went down and no fault of their own so I had to leave and go to a bank machine to get cash. By time I returned the machine was back up and running. I want to add also the prices were very very reasonable. Will definitely be back!

It’s a family owned place that’s struggling which is a shame. The service was slow but you can see that there’s only one person in the back. It’s fantastic for me and my seliac friend. However, it’s good homey food and these folks take their gluten free seriously. I would 100% go back.

What a gem! We can tell the owner/chef/server really loves food. He is very creative with his specials – Southern Sandwich was chicken schnitzel with pulled pork, and soup of the day was smoked chicken, savoy cabbage and potatoes. Basics like traditional breakfast was well done. (Farmer’s sausages are big and tasty.) Price is a steal!

Had my first breakfast outside my house in a year! This diner was wonderful. The owner is the cook and he’s a friendly man who truly loves what he does. He even gave a tutorial to my mum and me about his coffee blend! Highly recommend this restaurant. The photo is my amazing Eggs Benedict. Very clean and very strict Covid protocols which I am grateful for.

Square Plates is a lovely family diner with incredible food at very competitive prices. Definitely a hidden gem in a residential area of Peterborough – well worth checking it out! The owner/chef takes incredible pride in his business and makes sure you will enjoy the food he makes for you. He tries his best to cater to any dietary needs you and goes above and beyond to make sure your changes are excellent. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and everything myself or my friends have tried has been excellent. Additionally, they hire people in the community with special needs which I think is such a wonderful thing for a local diner to do. The waitress is lovely – very pleasant and great at her job.

The Chicken Cordon Bleu is so UNIQUE.
Wow! I’ve never had a chicken like that. The Chicken is so soft, easy to bite. What makes it so good is the Swiss Cheese they put on it. The combination with the ham & lettuce is so PERFECT. Wow! I am impressed at that taste. Also, the Indian server needs better English because she gave me a coffee when I didn’t ask for one & then I got charged for that coffee. I then communicated that the Indian female server gave me one by accident & they gave my money back. I’m happy for that but they need a better server to speak English better. That’s all.

Of cheese and lots of it, he omelettes jam packed with everything u like in each bite, and the eggs and bacon top tier and the breakfast potatoes just hit perfectly I highly recommend checking this place out! I’d post a picture but afterthought first bite I couldn’t put the fork down. Thanks guys for the great meal!

This was my first time here, upon entering there was a sign saying due to staff shortage meal times may take 20-30mins, which is fine for such a highly rated restaurant. The server was delightful, very friendly. We ordered a simple bacon and egg breakfast, it was ready very quickly and very overcooked. Our eggs were well done when we asked for over easy, everything else was cooked just a bit too long so very burnt. All of this would be somewhat ok if the prices weren’t as they are. There are many places in Peterborough that have the same menu for lower pricing/more quantity for the same pricing. I would not go here again nor recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I visited square plates in Peterborough in July for breakfast. The eggs and sides were excellent. The sausage was grilled and better than most breakfast sausages. The owner was friendly and took the time to explain how he started out his business as he was also the server that day.
