Just passing through.
Excellent food!
Breakfast served all day!
The omelette was amazing and definitely a home cooked meal!
The home fries are cooked just right!
The Burger was the best! Huge and cooked to perfection!
The seasoned fries were oh so good!
Our server (the pink haired girl) was fast and accommodating although not the most personable.
Needs work on customer service skills. At least ask how our meal was and if we want anything else before leaving the check.
The interior has an old historic feel and charm.
Overall this was a great stop!
Will definitely stop back by when through this way in the future!

My family and I were in my hometown for three days last month and each morning, we ate at Old 50 Café. Although all the usual menu items were ordered for breakfast, it was the potatoes that my daughter says were five stars. She’s from Ann Arbor and has eaten at many different restaurants there. She maintain that nowhere has she tasted fried potatoes like those made at Old 50 Café. She couldn’t wait to get there each morning, just to get those potatoes.
We were able to sit by the big window overlooking Franklin, watching the traffic and seeing people walking by. It was all very nice and homey

We ate lunch at old 50 Cafe on a Saturday. They had very good business with waitresses hustling and doing a good job of keeping up. Food was good. I had chicken fried steak and my wife had liver and onions. She said the liver was a little tough but otherwise good. Would eat here again when in the area.

I had high hopes because I love mom and pop type places. Their food is always usually really good. Unfortunately not this place ordered a turkey club and when I got my sandwich had ham and cheese I asked my waitress and she said I ordered it wrong even though the ticket said turkey club. Finally a different waitress brought me out the right sandwich but it was Absolutely horrible. The bacon was a greenish gray color and the turkey had no flavor. I couldn’t even eat it in the waitress. Had the nerve to ask me if I wanted the box to take it home. There are plenty of places to eat so steer clear of this one.

Three Stars – It was ok. I think this place would be awesome if you were local and knew everybody. There seemed to be a lot of socializing between tables and waitresses but with outsiders. When you walk in it a seat yourself place, but there is no sign to tell you that. We awkwardly stood at the entrance until someone walked by. Then when we sat down we waited more than 15 minutes to get menus. (There was another out of town table who waited 30 minutes and was told there was confusion on who had that table.) The food we got was ok, right on par for a mom and pop shop. The prices seemed good for the adult menu and a little high for the kids menu. (A kids spaghetti was around $7).

Overall we weren’t impressed and spent over an hour and a half there for the food and service we expected to come out faster. They might have just been busy or understaffed and we came at the wrong time. I think this place would shine locally for people not a schedule and just there to hang out and get food in their belly.

Nice location in downtown Carlyle across from the courthouse. For $17, I sort of expected ‘more’. On the good side – you get to control the salt in your food. I don’t know they put any extra salt in either the biscuits and gravy or the omelette. Both items were ‘okay good’ – could do a better job at presentation. Staff was friendly but sort of distracted at the same time. Overall a safe choice if you are in Carlyle.

This is our second time at the Old 50’s Cafe, and both times the food has been great, service has been awesome, and the atmosphere is very laid back and comfortable. This time we got a French Dip, and a Corned Beef Hash skillet. Both were delicious! We also had a bowl of Homemade chicken and dumpling soup…so good! The husband loves it because he can get a great breakfast all day! I would highly suggest stopping here if you’re hungry, and need something quick, delicious and hearty!

This little Cafe has exceeded all of my expectations. The pancakes are my favorite. They come out of the kitchen fresh and hot, with perfectly crisp edges and soft throughout the center. They aren’t overly sweet but definitely not dull in flavor either. It’s just right. The bacon is super tasty also. The service is very friendly, welcoming, and fast. The prices are very reasonable. This will be my go to for breakfast and brunch!

The food was fabulous and people here were so nice. Small town diners are always a great eat. The vegetable soup was amazing.
