First time here as my boyfriend and I were in town for a small birthday trip for me and I wanted to try their chai as I love chai and I know every place makes it differently.

The chai was very tasty along with my tiramisu. My boyfriend got a smoothie and a danish which he enjoyed.

Grem (cool name btw!) was patient as they took my boyfriends order only to find me distracted by the pins they had for sale (sorry ) Ended up buying a keychain and sticker!

We also bought 2 brownies and 2 cookies to save as snacks for later because they looked too good to pass up. They were in fact delicious snacks.

Will definitely be back when we come to town next! (And I will try not to get distracted by pins next time but no promises ☺️)

Great coffee, great croissant sandwiches, great fun, great activism. Love the work they are doing in their community. Their support for our unhoused neighbors especially hit home for me.

We stopped in to support a queer owned business and ended up finding our new favorite coastal cafe for brunch, selfies, and play a game of cribbage.

What more can I say about Controversial Coffee?! It is the best coffee on the Oregon coast (serving Sleepy Monk coffee)! They have drinks, snacks, merch, stickers, photo ops, clothing donation, games, plenty to look at, and places to sit. They are kind, professional, friendly, inclusive, knowledgeable, and quick every time we visit. Wish I had one of these where I live, but alas, it just makes it that much more special when we visit. Thank you! Stay strong, kind, and beautiful you! ☕️ ️‍ ️‍⚧️

This was such a fun stop for my boyfriend and i on our trip to the coast! A+ meme game, funny drink names, very lgbtq+ friendly. Sadly we only got coffee, not food, but the coffee was amazing!!

A cozy little spot with really good coffee. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and I love that they offer a “pay it forward” option, it adds a thoughtful touch to the experience. A great place to stop by for a cup of coffee and a bit of kindness.

Passing through seaside while doing trailwork and found this cafe on my off day! The staff was super friendly and they had a ton of alternative milk options! The space was awesome with a free to take area, books, merch and more. It was super cool to find a community space like that, i highly recommend!

I’ve been all over multiple countries, and to find a coffee shop that cares about their community, customers, and staff is uncommon. To actively care and involve themselves to the level that Controversial Coffee does is unheard of.

The drinks are awesome. The prices are more than reasonable. The atmosphere is welcoming and accepting of everyone. If you ever have a negative experience here, you should definitely consider some introspection.

I love it when a coffee shop picks a fight in the name of good trouble and rallies the community around a cause in an in your face kind of way! Very eclectic space, showcasing a lot of local artisans too, of course there is an inverted room as you expect! Baristas very friendly and knowledgeable and willing to teach me all about white espresso which is a first for me. I deliberately went out of season and early on a Sunday to get a more authentic feel to this place and I loved it.

There are so many wonderful things about this coffee shop, I can’t possibly fit them all in a single review.
They have cute and nerdy themed menus and keep track of the old menus so you never lose a favorite drink just because it was seasonal.
They have a pay it forward program and a free clothing closet to make sure everyone in the community can access basic necessities. They have community events, concerts and shows, a venue for your own events, karaoke, and honestly the best staff of any shop around period.
Controversial Coffee is not just a coffee shop – it is a model of what a community should be.
I drive half an hour to be able to spend time there and give them my business. They are the absolute best.
If you go here please leave them a positive review to counteract the small minded folks who try to bring them down. We need this safe space to continue to exist.

They do infused coffee here, which is super fun. I had a cardamom Americano with cream and a little vanilla syrup. It was fabulous. Plus, they’re an inclusive company. Cute inside, with a friendly barista. I’d recommend here
