European Taste is such a wonderful place. Thoughtful, hospitable, welcoming owners that treat you like family. The fresh bread was delicious and yeasty. Everyone enjoyed all of their meals and we were able to take some tiramisu home with us. It was my son’s birthday and though they are usually closed on Sundays, they were celebrating the Spring season and allowed us to join. We enjoyed our time and encourage others to go try this little gem. I got the Hungarian goulash spicy and it was so rustic and delicious.

The best European restaurant that I’ve ever tried. We got sarmale and it was so delicious and it tastes like heart made. Mici is Romanian sausage is my favorite, very yummy and juicy . goulash stew also amazing. The broth is so rich and flavorful in my mount. The house rolls are so fresh and soft. The best part is the services. It’s the family own so the owner provides us the amazing services and super friendly. They will treat you and make you feel like you are their family. I’m so impressed and can’t wait to go back again. Thank you for wonderful services and good food

I love the little restaurant. Suggest smaller portions and larger amounts of specialty ingredients, such as more mushrooms in chicken Marsala.. Bread or rolls made in house would enhance the cuisine. Anyone who can do pastry as fine as yours could work up some sort of bread included with entree.
We took desserts to our friends and they loved it.
Bottom line is we love your place.

What a wonderful dining experience not to be missed. Quaint and quiet atmosphere and the food is delicious. The menu selections are terrific, no matter what European Taste you desire, I bet you will find it here. The owners and chef often come out to be sure you’re enjoying your dinner and they are always available for a recommendation you are sure to enjoy. Almost hate giving such a flavorful review because I may not have a seat when everyone learns how great their restaurant is.

The European Restaurant in Richmond’s West End is truly a hidden gem and one of those rare places that keeps you coming back year after year. I’ve been dining here since they first opened, and the quality, care, and heart behind this restaurant have never wavered.
It’s a beautiful, family-run spot owned by a Romanian couple who genuinely bring the taste of Romania to Richmond. Chef Luigi, the wife and culinary powerhouse, works magic in that small kitchen—preparing everything from scratch on her own. You can taste the love, tradition, and effort in every dish. Her husband Adrian runs the front of house with warmth and grace (and if you listen closely, you’ll even hear him jumping in to wash dishes when needed). That’s the kind of place this is—everyone pitches in, and it shows.
I’ll never forget our first visit, when Chef Luigi came out of the kitchen and gave me a neck and shoulder massage—completely unexpected and incredibly kind. Ironically, she’s the one who deserves that massage most, considering how tirelessly she works back there.
And don’t even think about skipping dessert. Their display case is filled with some of the best homemade desserts you’ll find anywhere—each one better than the last.
This restaurant isn’t just about great food; it’s about warmth, hospitality, and supporting a small family business that pours their heart into what they do. Don’t be shy—go, support them, and enjoy an authentic experience. You will not be disappointed.

This is the type of restaurant that becomes a “regular” destination. The atmosphere is makes you feel welcome as soon as you come in. Wine list is uncomplicated – tell them if you want red or white and they’ll give you the options (and they were good)!
We could’ve had dinner off the appetizer and/or salads alone! Everything sounded so good. We got the meat in flaky pastry and it was buttery and delicious. We were given hot bread with butter and it was a delicious way to get our meal started.
We got a special (Shepards pie) & regular (chicken Marsala) item for entrees. The shepards pie was the best I’ve ever had, hands down. The mince was extraordinary, tender, seasoned to perfection & plentiful. The portion was large, which was good because I kept stealing bites from my husband! My chicken Marsala was also a large portion of tender chicken, perfectly cooked pasta and all well-sauced.
The desserts are in a vertical case and you point at what you’d like. We got a Romanian chocolate layer and it was rich and decadent. Not a dessert you will find in a store or probably any other restaurant in Richmond. Such a great was to end our meal.
We will absolutely be back!

This Romanian and European Taste restuarant is a great place to taste some authentic food. The service was very good, the food was delicious. The portion size is very generous. Chef Ligia was personable, explained the menus options for my gluten-free meal choices. There were many to choose from! She also has a Pavlova GF dessert. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back.

We love European Taste. Adrian and Ligia are the best! They are so welcoming and treat you like family. We love to banter with Adrian. He is hilarious. Ligia is so sweet and kind. My kids love this place too. The food is legit. Some of our favorites are the chicken schnitzel, cabbage rolls, Transylvania sausage (AKA Mititei, which the only dish that Adrian makes and wants everyone to order it), tomato soup, and langosh to name a few. The portions are very filling too! Honestly, I don’t think you will be disappointed no matter what you order. They serve homemade rolls while you wait for your food. We try to visit this restaurant as often as we can even though we live on the other side of town. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

European Taste has been a family favorite now for close to a decade and we are always treated so well. Their dishes are served with love and are absolutely amazing. Whether it is the Mici, which makes the husband beam with pride, or any of the superb daily specials prepared by the wife, my last meal was a Shepherds Pie and it may be one of my favorite Shepherds Pie that I have eaten, all the dishes that we have tried have been outstanding and you feel like you get your money’s worth as this food is prepared by hand and not squeezed out of a package like so many restaurants do this day and age! And if you are too full to have dessert, you are missing some of their most iconic dishes, the Cremesh and the Tiramisu are some of the best desserts that i have come across in all of my travels. Please support this wonderful family as they are living out their dream and serving our community with a passion for sharing their culinary heritage! Oh, and give the Romanian beer a try, spoiler alert: it is pretty darn good! Thank you to the Sava family!
