Love love loved this new “it” place to go in the Redondo Rivera! The owner Lavae has created an upscale and awesome space and the sommelier, Jason, is incredibly insightful!
From the oysters to the entrees, it is all amazing. We ate the bar with the charming and delightful Erika!
The caviar “bumps” were worth the price !
We missed the jazz club experience, but hopefully next time!

I dined at Montauk on the second night of their soft opening. We were a party of four and were warmly greeted by the Assistant General Manager who introduced us to our waitstaff. We were dutifully attended by a doting and attentive staff who were very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. The cocktails were not only delicious but a visual work of art. We tried 4 different appetizers and 4 main courses. The duck carpaccio appetizer was my favorite…delicate…subtle flavors and delightful mouthfeel. The NY
Strip was delicious! It was perhaps one the best steaks I’ve had. It compares favorably with those I have had at some of the famous national steakhouse chains. The menu was fairly priced, in fact I was surprised at how reasonable the tab was! We will definitely return!!!

I was invited to Montauk’s soft opening and was excited to try it out! The patio is nice with heated lamps, and the food did not disappoint—Farmer’s Market Tart , Chilean Sea Bass, and Mushroom Tagliatelle were all flavorful and generous.

That said, a few service hiccups stood out. When I asked for water, I was offered Evian ($10!) without being told it wasn’t complimentary—regular tap water must be specifically requested. There were also some mix-ups with the soft-opening discount (30%), which took a few tries to fix. Other tables weren’t offered Evian, so clarity here would help.

Overall, food and ambiance are strong, but service still has room to improve. Montauk has great potential, and I hope the team smooths out these small bumps soon.

A Stunning Debut for Montauk Montauk!

I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical that Montauk could live up to the buzz, but it absolutely did, and then some.

We dined on their second night open, fully expecting a few soft-opening hiccups. Instead, the experience was seamless. Our reservation was for outdoor seating, but the team graciously accommodated our request to move indoors. From start to finish, Hector, Easton, and Chariff were phenomenal! They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in creating an exceptional dining experience.

Between four of us, we sampled several dishes, and not one disappointed. The presentation was beautiful, but the real star was the flavor, there were so many creative and unexpected combinations.

The standout appetizer for me was the Seafood Hummus, the added touch of curry took it to another level, and the portion was generous. For entrées, the NY Strip was extraordinary, it melted in my mouth, it was tender, perfectly cooked, and honestly rivaled steakhouses which would be twice the price (Montauk: a very fair $58). And the Citrus-Spiced Shrimp with Israeli couscous? Bright, flavorful, and texturally brilliant.

The only tiny letdown was that the dessert menu wasn’t yet available—but that just gives me the perfect reason to return. Montauk has managed to deliver an elegant, elevated experience without pretension, and I can’t wait to see how they evolve.

Highly recommend reservations. They target being reservations only.

The interior is a classy New England feel that was codesigned with Ralph Lauren’s team. The dining area is cozy and even the seats at the bar are by reservation only. The outside is comfortable with heaters.

We had the duck carpacio and enjoyed the seafood options as well. The bartender was friendly and all the servers were quick to help.

I recently visited Montauk Restaurant in Redondo Beach with a private group, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was absolutely delicious — I had the citrus-spiced shrimp, which was perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor, and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which was the perfect sweet finish.

The overall atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed, with a coastal charm that reminded me of being back on the East Coast. Even the small details stand out — they use cute, sustainable to-go bags that are reusable, which I really appreciated. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a high-quality meal, great drinks, and a welcoming vibe all at once. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I would definitely come back again — Montauk is a wonderful spot for great food, excellent service, and a sophisticated coastal ambience.

Montauk is a beautiful restaurant with fantastic food. We sat outside on the patio and started with cocktails and a Caesar salad. There is soft ambient lighting, patio heaters, and jazz music playing in the background. We ordered the clams and lobster gnocchi. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. We can’t wait to go back and try more items on the menu.

We dined at Montauk on New Year’s Eve with great expectations. I understand being a busy night stressed the restaurant in many ways. I do want the restaurant to be successful. We did like the “club-like” atmosphere. However, it is still going through a start-up transient that I hope they can work their way through. We were seated at a table that had the backs of chairs from adjacent tables within two inches of each side of our table. That impacted the enjoyment of our evening. My date and I did enjoy the Sashimi (small serving) and Waldorf salad as starters. She ordered the New York strip Medium+ and it was served a cool Medium-rare. The steak was tender and juicy, but was served lukewarm. I ordered the Jidori chicken and found the dish unsuccessful. It was a very small portion of tender, but flavorless chicken served on a bed of cold, sour, grated lettuce. The sourness of the lettuce overpowered the chicken which lacked the expected South African spices. The lettuce also caused the chicken to be served at room temperature. We were surprised that no side dishes were on the menu to help round out the meal. The most disappointing course of the evening was dessert. We ordered the German Chocolate cheesecake that was anything but that. The texture was icy, more like an ice cream pie, than a creamy cheesecake. The German Chocolate topping was imbedded into the top-layer and did not provide the sensation of the cake it shares its name with. Lastly, the color of the dessert was unappetizing. The food portion of the menu was short, two pages, but the alcohol offerings had several pages. Although they only offer a handful of beers that don’t really stand out. They did have jazz music which was nice in the back room and have underground parking. We may have caught them on a bad night. The wait staff and host seemed overwhelmed. One server did ask us to submit a positive review and to mention them by name which seemed odd to me. We may go back sometime in the future on a “normal” night to see if they have been able to make any improvements.

My husband and I enjoyed the soft opening at Montauk. We We offered champagne as we waited for our seats. The Interior decor is absolutely beautiful. We were happy to sit outside and enjoy the fall air and the mystical lighting. We shared a tasty Waldorf salad and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the New York steak. I tried the lobster gnocchi, which was absolutely incredible and filling. We each also had a cocktail. Both were made to perfection. Looking forward to many more nights of dining at this luxury establishment and cannot wait till they start the live jazz music! Thank you for having us!

Upset & Disappointed

We visited the new Montauk restaurant in Redondo Beach on a Tuesday night, excited to try a new spot in the area. We came dressed in neat, casual clothing ~nothing fancy, but absolutely appropriate for a relaxed evening out. We decided to sit at the bar, ordered a glass of wine, and everything seemed fine at first.

Then a female manager approached us and told us that next time we should wear something better for this place. That comment was completely uncalled for and frankly very disrespectful. We were shocked. It instantly ruined the experience. We no longer felt comfortable staying, didn’t order anything else, and left right away.

For a brand-new restaurant, treating guests this way is disappointing and unacceptable. We had planned to enjoy our evening there, but this was enough for us to decide we won’t be coming back again. Hospitality should start with making customers feel welcome ~ not judged!
