Diver Down has the best burgers in Southern Illinois. I always get a mushroom Swiss burger. it’s well seasoned and isn’t dry. Just writing this review makes me want one now. They have really good fries, too. They have fried mushrooms as big as your fist and the pepperjack triangles are amazing. They always know what we want when we first walk in. Great staff, very clean place, restaurant on one side, bar on the other. Everything I have to say about Diver Down is good. Golconda is one the oldest towns in Illinois and very worth a visit, especially when recreating in the Shawnee National Forest. Go check them out!

Rode here today. Nice little place. The food and service is alway excellent. Fried mozzarella and mushrooms are the best I’ve ever had. We had the BBQ Bacon Burger and the Patty Melt. Great place to take a drive for lunch or dinner!

Great little place we always enjoy stopping by when we’re in the Shawnee. Great staff, the atmosphere is always cool, and the staff is always friendly and inviting! Food is top notch! We spent a little extra on some B.A. t-shirts!

This is a great place to stop for dinner if you’re in Golconda. The atmosphere gives you those rivertown bar vibes, and the service is fantastic. They’ve got a dining area and a bar on the other side. We had the catfish and fried okra, and they were absolutely fantastic. The star of the show was the fried mushrooms and the fried pepper Jack cheese triangles. The mushrooms are probably some of the largest you will find anywhere. You could probably make a meal out of just appetizers because they’re delicious and the portions are huge. A highly recommend you add this place to your weekend river trip agenda.

05/11/24— Been to Diver Down about five times since my first review that is below. They never disappoint. Service is always good, the staff is very friendly and the food delicious. I always have their Coconut Shrimp. The Pina colada sauce is amazing.
Our first time stopping in at Diver Down.It has been on our list of places to try. We were very impressed with the service and the food. Our waitress Chelsea was a delight, very friendly personality, and courteous. Our order was taken and promptly served. We had the coconut shrimp with pina-colada sauce, salad with poppyseed dressing and fries. The salad was probably one of the best we’ve had from a restaurant. Everything was fresh and crisp, great serving size. The poppyseed dressing had a great flavor, not to sweet. The coconut shrimp was cooked perfectly, great flavor, paired with the pina-colada sauce was a bonus. The fries were cooked perfectly.The prices very reasonable. We will definitely be going back when we are in the area.

Was a nice surprise to have a restaurant in Golconda that serves both food and adult beverages. Heather is a great server – as is the blond behind the bar(didn’t catch her name). However, there is a server that is totally clueless about how to do much of anything. Food is pretty good… (Meaning we’ve not had anything bad yet) But only bottle – NO draft local beers at all… I’d give it a C+… For a small town, they’ve tried to something that works. So far, so good.

Im definitely going back. The mushrooms are amazing. It’s the biggest mushrooms I’ve ever seen. The rest of the food was really good but you will never forget the mushrooms.
