This was the BEST breakfast I have had in a long time (bacon avacado omlette) w/ pancakes!!! The waitstaff & service was awesome! The restaurant is clean and has great decor & and a warm atmosphere. My daughter and I had breakfast and everything was perfect. The hashbrowns are a little more expensive than other restaurants and mine were not a hot as I like but they were still good. The waitress was on top of everything. The food didn’t take too long to come out and the apples on my French toast were amazing. Over all was great and I’ll be back

Great food! We ordered the appetizer combo, Tuscan Sandwich, and the Wisconsin Burger.
The Wisconsin Burger was delicious and a fun combo of burger and brat and a great size. The Tuscan Sandwich was fresh and flavorful. None of the appetizers and fries were greasy so that was wonderful.

OMG THIS PLACE IS A WHOLE VIBE!!! the food is great. The portions are HUGE!! Juan, the host, is awesome. This is really a true gem in Waupun. We will be coming here as much as possible.

The teens they hired are constantly in the back chatting, on their phones, or goofing off. I had to flag someone down repeatedly to get served or a refill.
I got 2 sausage links that didn’t look or smell pleasant. When I cut one open it was uncooked and sickly sweet smelling. I informed one of the kids/teen servers and they took the sausage back. They returned with the sausage cut half and grilled until it was no longer raw looking. I explained that the sausage wasn’t only uncooked when I sent it back, but it had gone off. They looked at me as if I were fussy or something. I told them to tell the cook to smell it and taste it.
Jesus, put some date stickers on your containers in the back. That meat was foul smelling, how did no one notice that? But also, don’t send it back out after you’ve cooked it more, it’s still spoiled meat.
I stopped eating here. They need to properly wipe the tables down with actual cleaning liquid so it’s not sticky.

We loved Mateo’s! Great old-time diner atmosphere.
Food was So tasty (try the potato pancakes!). We had a table of 4 and Everyone loved their food (well… avocado was a little hard, but was a minor issue). The service was gracious and well-paced. We didn’t feel rushed. Coffee was really excellent too!
Top notch place for sure. Oh, and remember one of life’s little rules… always overtip breakfast wait people – they work just as hard for a smaller bill, so up the percentage if you can : )
