Had a great dinner here! By far the best dish of the night was the Sockeye Salmon Sanshozuke – fresh, flavorful, and honestly one of the most unique salmon preparations I’ve had. Everything felt refined and intentional. Definitely a spot for special occasions or when you want to treat yourself.

Telling us in depth about each dish and also chatting about the history of the restaurant. The best part was watching them make sushi for a takeout order – and how they carefully did a QA check on every single piece of sushi and talking about each piece. It’s a fine dining Japanese restaurant. Environment is very good. 4 of us have not been there before so asked for some recommendations. Shitake Nikuzume is tasty that is tempura chicken stuffed in Japanese mushroom doesn’t feel oily. Rest of sushi and salmon tartare do not feel very special but the ingredients used is fresh.
Overall a bit pricey with the quality of food.
Restaurant has outdoor sittings and inside has sushi bar sittings. Reservations are recommended

We were visiting from Washington state. USA has won so many awards because of their authentic food that is wonderfully prepared and great service. I was also impressed. We will be back on our next trip !

We had an AMAZING dinner. The sashimi felt extremely fresh; I hate when sashimi feels like it was just defrosted, but it was nothing like that. Perfect temperature and consistency. The curry pork karaage had a fragrant flavour profile, which we enjoyed more than the traditional chicken karaage. I can’t even BEGIN to talk about the sablefish… the sauce is amazing, the fish is cooked perfectly, and the little bites on the side added delightful additional textures. Get it. You also can’t go wrong with the rolls. The hojicha crème brûlée is mind blowing, and we preferred it over the traditional type. The only underwhelming dish was the bluefin tuna yuzu kosho, which we felt lacked flavor/seasoning. Imagine 1cm cubes of tuna with pieces of avocado, and no other flavour. Ten cubes max (if that) in the whole dish. We wondered if someone forgot to put sauce on it. It also did not make us feel any more full, so we felt that it was a wasteful, sad use of $19. Other than that, the hotate nigiri felt fresh and decadent, the atmosphere was calm/clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We would dine here again.

This is a cozy Japanese restaurant with excellent service, quality ingredients and expertly prepared food by people who obviously care. All of the dishes were tasty and I would be glad to order any of them again. The Wagyu Strip Loin Steak comes with a fun table side finish that the family thought fun. The Ebi Shinjo Bits were amazingly light and fluffy. The Tofu Avocado Salad has an amazingly crisp and refreshing dressing. Bill for everything down came to about $265 CAD, but given the quality of the did and service we would come back again.

Great food, decent service, and neighbourhood street parking.
Parking is free neighbourhood street parking since the small parking lot in front has been converted into an outdoor patio. This neighbourhood has plenty of that.
The food was great. I had to adjust my perception of the dishes as they were all tapas-style small dishes. This post-pandemic era of pricing makes most prices a little high but worth it still if you value great food.
We had two servers, the first one was fine as he only took our order. I saw he later was serving the tables on the patio. The second server was fine, too, but his presence was missed a couple of times when we desired something. This could be due to the location of our table being tucked around a corner and didn’t have visibility from the main part of the dining room. Both were professional, friendly, and accommodating of my companions’ requests for recommendations.
I first ate here at Zest and now at Yuwa. I will definitely be back.

I went to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, the ingredients are fresh, yummy! No wonder why Yuwa is chosen as one of the best Japanese restaurants in Vancouver. The staffs are welcoming and kind until we leave. It was such a great time❤️
