Catfish Cabin

  4.3 – 436 reviews   • Southern restaurant (US)

Social Profile:

Catfish Cabin began in the early 70’s as Catfish Kitchen, owned by Judge Barrett Holmes. In the mid-70’s, it was bought by the current owner, Tara Herrin’s parents. Back then, it was a cafeteria-style restaurant with only two kitchen workers, Velma and Ethel. Over the years, it changed hands and names several times, becoming The Pagoda and then Katfish Korral until January 2005, when Tara Herrin took full ownership and renamed it Catfish Cabin. This name and model have remained to this day.

We had no idea this was a buffet. Best southern cooking buffet. Could barely walk out because of how stuffed we got but we were definitely not disappointed.

Food is pretty decent, also have a salad bar. Setup is confusing the first time around so here’s some simple instructions:
1. When you enter, hang a right and grab your plate.
2. Load it up, and go find a table.
3. They will come and ask what you want to drink and fetch it for you.
4. Don’t forget about the salad bar in the hallway.

The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the place fills up quick.

Family stopped by for the fried catfish and boiled shrimp buffet. Very impressed with the quality and freshness of everything. It was a great value for $25 a person as well. Very attentive staff and good food. We will be back!

Welp I tried the new location. Was mid week lunch. Wasn’t impressed at all, food quality and choices has taken a turn for the worse. Only fried chicken that obviously wasn’t freshly cooked, fried frozen chicken fried steak patties. a few vegetables that were soft and waterlogged, sitting around too long. 17.00 for one or 34.00 for two absolutely wasn’t worth it. Not recommended . The turnstyle for the food is quite ridiculous to me but it seems just having had been there.

Great Christian atmosphere.
Great service, vegetables and peach cobbler.
Good fried chicken.
$58 total with $17 for adults and $12 for kids buffet on Sunday. It is a little bit pricey for box mashed potatoes and stove top stuffing type dressing. We were expecting to have catfish at catfish cabin but catfish is not served on Sundays.

Catfish cabin but no catfish? No direction. Rude customer service. No drink for 15 min after sitting down. Can’t go back for 2nds unless you want to wait 20 min. Food was decent but not good enough to come back. It was honestly a cluster with no direction. Everyone was confused. I won’t be back.
