⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fresh sushi, flavorful ramen, and a hidden gem in Philly!

I visited Oishii Sushi & Ramen and it quickly became one of my favorite spots for sushi and Japanese comfort food in the city. Everything tasted fresh, looked absolutely beautiful, and was full of flavor.

The only small downside is the seating area is a bit limited, so it can feel tight when it gets busy — but honestly the food is absolutely worth the visit at any time.

‍♀️ Here’s what I tried:

Oishii Poke Bowl
Fresh, colorful, and packed with flavor. The fish tasted incredibly fresh and the mix of toppings added great texture and balance.

Inari
Light, slightly sweet tofu pockets filled with seasoned rice. Simple but delicious and very satisfying.

Gyoza
Perfectly pan-fried dumplings — crispy on the outside and juicy inside with a flavorful pork filling.

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen
Rich, creamy broth with a nice spicy kick. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the toppings made it a very comforting bowl.

Shrimp Yakisoba
Savory stir-fried noodles with tender shrimp and vegetables. Super flavorful and cooked just right.

Salmon Lobster Roll
Fresh salmon sashimi paired with rich lobster for a really indulgent sushi roll. Great texture and flavor combination.

Las Vegas Signature Roll
One of the most flavorful rolls I tried. Crispy, savory, and topped with delicious sauces that make every bite exciting.

Tokyo Signature Roll
Beautifully presented with fresh fish and balanced flavors. Very smooth and satisfying.

Takoyaki
Soft, savory octopus balls topped with sauce and bonito flakes. Warm, fluffy, and full of umami flavor.

Overall:
Great sushi, comforting ramen, and flavorful Japanese dishes all in one place. Even though the seating area is a little small, the quality of the food makes this spot completely worth visiting.

If you’re looking for fresh sushi and ramen in Philadelphia, I definitely recommend checking this place out. I love this place and will definitely be coming back!

Tiny little cozy place. Not the best ramen I’ve ever had but solid and worth it. I got the black ramen. Great mix of everything, and a bit of everything, in the bowl. Plenty of ramen. The pork slices were a perfect balance of meat and fat and the lightly marinated egg was perfectly jammy. The portion was perfect for me to be able to finish it all but satisfied and not overfull. (For reference, I can make 2-3 meals out of a standard American chain restaurant portion.)

Good sushi, open pretty late, with friendly staff. From walking in to check was about 18 minutes. I ordered the gyoza which was steamed and served with some soy sauce. I ate those hurriedly but didn’t have to wait long before my roll came out.

I ordered the Volcano roll. It was good enough for me to be sitting here contemplating whether or not it’s rude for me to ask them for a second roll as they start to clean up for the night.

Amazing sushi. We had the tuna and salmon rolls with a side of green salad. The rolls were perfectly made with a hearty ratio of fish to rice. I could have gotten just one roll and been full. The amount of fish they include in their rolls, plus the quality and freshness, was impeccable. Certainly one of the best sushi rolls I’ve had!

What a lovely little shop. It smells delicious to start, and the smells don’t lie. I had the Tonkatsu (my regular regardless of the city I’m in) and it was sublime. Fast service. Sushi also looked great.

Ordered takeout here, the food was great! However, I wish that my chicken katsu dish came with more than 2 small broccoli florets. Otherwise, everything was great!

Great food. Really enjoyed the tan tan ramen. The broth had great flavor, and you get a healthy amount of noodles. The poke bowl was great, and the steamed gyoza was delicious. I highly recommend this spot.

We are in Philadelphia for a wrestling tournament and tried this place for sushi and Ramen. We had a few different sushi rolls and three different Ramen noodles and everything was absolutely amazing! It’s a very small quaint little place but the service was very quick, the staff was very helpful And everything was made fresh right there in the restaurant so everything is open and there is nothing to hide. Will definitely go back to this place and try other things on their menu and some of their other sushi rolls. Highly recommend them!

I came to Oishii to get lunch after getting a haircut down the street. The restaurant is small and has tables for seating groups of 2 and 4 easily. I had a three roll lunch special with soup and a hot water. The fish was fresh and the cuts are above average in size. The sushi and the soup were delicious. The woman behind the counter who took my order was very nice and hospitable. If you’re coming here, don’t expect it to be hip or cool or some kind of Michelin star spot. It’s not Blue Ribbon sushi but it certainly is very good quality. This is a nice, cozy, sushi and noodle shop that delivers great food that punches above its weight that’s run by workers who love their job. I am looking forward to coming back. You should consider visiting if you find yourself in Old City.
