UPDATE: tried again same item, asked for extra sauce but didn’t get any sauce at all, not even regular sauce but instead got ketchup. seriously ketchup with chicken schwarma. and wrap was still very dry, even chicken felt stale. Horrible culture awareness. Won’t be back.
If you’re in the Fatima Bazaar area and looking for a spot to eat, you should definitely check out Cario Grill.
First off, the vibe is surprisingly nice. They have a great lounge area to sit in—it’s actually comfortable and modern. You place your order using these neat screens inside, which is pretty slick. Just a quick heads up: you might run into a little bit of waiting time for your order, so don’t go there absolutely starving if it looks busy!
Now for the food breakdown. Two things are absolutely stellar here: the falafel are really good (seriously, order them!) and their collection of good sauces is fantastic. They really elevate everything.
I tried the chicken shawarma. The chicken filling itself was good, flavorful and well-spiced, but I’ll be honest, the wrap exterior layer was a little on the dry side. It wasn’t a dealbreaker because the sauces helped, but maybe ask for extra sauce if you get the wrap!
The takeaway: A solid, pleasant experience with great falafel and a cozy atmosphere. Go for the good fresh food and the lounge!

Came for the koshary, but the sujuk hawawshi was the real star. The description undersells it, like its just a patty in a pita bread. The inside is moist and flavorful while the outside is crunchy and toasty. Everything else was good too, even if some things did need a touch of salt.
We tried the dessert from the temporary weekend buffet, something bread puddingy, but lighter and really benefiting from the toasty bread. REALLY GOOD.
The owner is fantastic, and really just wants you to experience his food. The ambiance is very chill.
When we were done we got ice cream and desserts from the attached Fatima’s Bazaar.

Really enjoyed the place! Reminded me a lot of egypt with the overall vibe in the restaurant with the music, scenery, and food of course! I brought my non middle eastern friends as well and they all loved the food, especially the Kofta! High recommend it

Cairo Grill is a hidden gem! I stopped by just looking for a light snack and ended up having the best falafel I’ve ever had. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the kitchen staff were so generous with their portions — you can tell they really care about the food and their guests.
The lounge area is small but cozy, with an authentic atmosphere and the amazing aroma of freshly grilled meats coming from the butcher inside. Everything about the experience felt warm, genuine, and delicious.
Highly recommend Cairo Grill — their falafel alone is worth the trip!

Huge selection of Egyptian dishes, we tried the schwarma and hawawshi. The flavor was incredible. Trying the different sauces was unreal. Overall amazing restaurant, it’s great to eat meat you know was taken care of well, and tastes so good. Outdoor lounge seating was the cherry on top. If you live in San Jose and you haven’t tried this place, you are missing out.

Fantastic service. The meat pie(dont remember its Egyptian name) was very, very good. Rice pudding was phenomenal, surprising to me given ive never been a particular fan. Its actually…very good. Father said its maybe the best he’s had. Great atmosphere too. Owner was very friendly and accommodating. Honestly, loved the experience. Hope to be back in the future.

Great Egyptian restaurant with super authentic food and amazing vibes. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned, and the place smelled incredible as soon as you walked in. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food was easily some of the best I’ve had. Definitely coming back!
