I’ve been coming to Mario’s Table for years now, and I can confidently say I’ve never had a bad experience, not even once. That kind of consistency is rare, and it’s exactly why this place keeps me coming back. I don’t even bother reserving a table anymore because, honestly, sitting at the bar is part of the magic. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and genuinely make you feel welcome, whether you’re there for a quick bite or staying awhile. Conversations flow easily, and it somehow always feels like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

The atmosphere is unmatched. Mario’s Table is pure vibes, warm, lively, and effortlessly cool without trying too hard. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the energy. The staff is attentive, kind, and clearly takes pride in what they do, which makes the entire experience that much better. You’re never rushed, never overlooked, and always treated like a regular, even if it’s your first time.

Now let’s talk about the food, because wow. I always order the farfalle with prosciutto, peas, mushrooms, and chopped tomatoes in a light cream sauce, and I swear it never fails. It’s one of those dishes that seems simple on paper but delivers on every level. The flavors are perfectly balanced, comforting without being heavy, and somehow exactly what you didn’t even know you were craving. Every bite hits, every time.

This is the kind of place you can come by yourself and end up striking up a great conversation, or bring a date for a cozy, intimate dinner that feels special without being stuffy. It’s approachable, charming, and inviting, the kind of spot you want to gatekeep but can’t because it deserves the hype.

Mario’s Table isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a staple. A go-to. A place that feels familiar in the best way. And honestly, if you haven’t been yet, I truly feel sorry for you, because you’re missing out.

Our favorite neighborhood restaurant! Service is excellent and food always hits the spot. Familiar with an old school 90s feel. They make the best vodka cranberry I’ve ever had. Short glass. Not too much cran 😉 We come here at least twice a month. The outdoor seating is lovely as well. They’re open late. We LOVE the *chicken Marsala*, Caesar salad, French onion soup (seasonal), angel hair with marinara, traditional chicken parm and bow tie pasta. Feel so lucky to have a place like this just around the corner!

This restaurant was amazing! The food was some of the best Italian I’ve had in the city. The service was top notch (had the chicken piccata). Our server Jeff made our experience exceptional! He was so nice! Highly recommend and definitely coming back. Thank you for a great experience and memory!

I just finished my first visit to Mario’s, and it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! The atmosphere was cozy, the cocktails and food delicious, and our server Jeff was beyond fantastic! He truly made our visit memorable. Mario himself even stopped by our table to greet us! Mario’s will always be on my Chicago itinerary when visiting or passing through.

My lady friend and I were looking for a last-minute Italian spot for dinner, and after asking Grok AI for suggestions, Mario’s Table came up as the top recommendation. We decided to check it out—and we’re so glad we did!
The hostess was welcoming, and we were seated right away. The restaurant had a cozy, dimly lit atmosphere with a nice mix of guests, creating a relaxed and inviting vibe.
I ordered the multi-cheese lasagna with meat sauce, which was absolutely amazing—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We finished with an apple pie and ice cream that was the perfect sweet ending.
The owner, Mario, even stopped by our table to check in and chat for a moment, which made the experience feel even more personal. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner and will definitely be coming back!

After viewing an art exhibit, my husband and I were hungry and I wanted some comfort food. In particular, I wanted some really yummy Italian food and I’m so thankful my husband found Mario’s Table.

From getting a nice table in the corner and having such a wonderful waitress, I was already impressed. The ambiance was lowkey and exactly how I like it.

The food was top tier and the lasagna was the best I’ve ever had in my life! They have a lighted sign that says casual Italian, but I know it’s the best!

We got an appetizer, two entrees, a libation and a dessert for under $100. You can’t beat that!

If you’re looking for some yummy fresh Italian food, go here now

Comfortable neighborhood Italian spot with a relaxed, casual atmosphere. The food is fine and satisfying, but nothing really stands out or feels memorable. Service is friendly enough, and it works well for an easy, no-pressure meal. Solid, but not a place you go out of your way to revisit.

I’ve had the fortune of eating Italian at some icons in Chicago, but I always come back to Mario’s. The food is exquisitely crafted and the flavors are so authentically budding that you say Delicio! as you feed your face in awe! Gotta frequent this spot trust me!

Can’t recommend: there was nothing wrong with this restaurant really, I just did not en joy it overall.

The service was the best part, it was fast and employees clearly knew what they were doing and were attentive – bravo.

The atmosphere is okay, a bit crammed, it is a smaller space so tables are close enough you can be part of the conversation of the people sitting on all sides next to you.

Food dishes were a bit disappointing, compared to other Italian places in the area and considering price per dish, the dishes just did not satisfy me. Unfortunately, I will not return to try something else, as all else people have had around me did not appeal to me.

I’m writing this review before I’ve even left the restaurant. Very rarely does a meal stun you so much that you feel compelled to put into words to the emotions you’re feeling the instant you’ve finished your food.
We chanced upon this unassuming restaurant today and decided to give it a try. Every person who worked here was so friendly and helpful.
It was a good start – and then we got our food.
I ordered a shrimp scampi. I found this to be probably the best pasta I have had in Chicago. It was so light that you could taste the olive oil, the fresh garlic and the slight sprinkling of Parmesan. A perfect reprieve from overly seasoned dishes that frequent my diet.
My partner ordered the veal saltimbocca, which the waiter told us was flavour dripping into our mouths. He wasn’t kidding. The meat was incredibly flavoured, with a perfect hint of rosemary accentuating the gaminess of the meat.
Finally a quick callout to the bread served at the start of the meal – how was even THIS unassuming starter so so tasty?!
If you’re in the area, make sure you give this place a try – the service and food both deserve it!
