What a great hidden gem of a resturant. We sat in the bar for happy hour. My husband had the carbonara, and it was one of the best we’ve ever had. The egg yolk melt over the pasta was perfection. I had the eggplant, also delicious. Met the owner after, to talk about hosting a holiday dinner there. He was kind and accomodating. Looking forward to going back.

I have been frequenting here since before their renovations — at least 8 years. The owner is kind and welcoming, the food has always been very good, I like their patio and new decor. However, my reason for a big drop in stars is a new practice they developed that I find horrible for customers – if you pay cash its one price they list, but if you pay with a credit card YOU get charged 3.5% for your entire meal and they give you a different price (it shows you both prices on your receipt – price if you pay with cash, price if you pay with credit card). In addition of course to the 15% – 20% tip expected. Since when is basic payment option that any restaurant or retail store has as a part of their basic business operating expense the customer burden? (And I was a CEO of many companies, I well understand business expenses that get built-in to overall operating cost). It doesn’t feel great to have a $250 meal tab for a family or group of friends, and suddenly see an additional 3.5% tacked on for credit card charge if we wont pay cash (so… are we all just supposed to get up from the table and go find a bank ATM across the street to get cash out and come back?). I get if this was a small mom and pop ice cream shop on a $4 ice cream where it’s easy to pay cash. But at what I consider a nicer restaurant where it’s usually well in the $150 – $300+ range, it feels tacky and insulting. Even the waitress mentioned that customers didn’t like it and it was interfering with her tip amounts, too. I highly suggest the owner reconsider this practice. It feels like he’s trying to run an all cash business to scam on taxes, and pushing that on his customers.

Fresco Grill in Bonsall is a convenient Italian spot right off the 76 on your way to Fallbrook, with reasonable prices and a really lovely server, Sandy. She checked in on us just the right amount, skillfully managed our large group, and even found thoughtful wine substitutions when our first choice was sold out, such a pro and genuinely friendly. As for the food, it was pretty average overall. Most of us got lukewarm pasta dishes, which was a bummer, though my son’s pizza came out piping hot (win!). My eggplant parmigiana was a bit chewy, so it felt like the recipes might need a little refresh. The place definitely has potential, and with a few tweaks, it could be a real local gem.

We celebrated our company Christmas Party last night with 20 people. It was amazing! The restaurant was lovely and the staff were terrific. They were very accomidating with our needs for extra tables to hold gifts. I highly recomend the restaurant for group events.

First of all, the ambiance is wonderful. Whether you’re inside or outside, the restaurant feels very welcoming and comfortable and fairly upscale. The people are also wonderful! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Very welcoming and knowledgeable.
The food tasted good and was served in a reasonable amount of time, but unfortunately resulted in an evening of nasty food poisoning for yours truly. Also is a fairly expensive place for the quality of the food served.

Confusing corner spot for reservation seating and more confusion with language barrier with waitress. Great atmosphere but excessive bill with wine and cannolis flowing to freely. Remember better times…

My daughter-in-law ordered me spaghetti with marinara sauce to go. It was way overdone. It literally stuck all together. I’m sorry to say this was the worst spaghetti I’ve ever had in my life.
I was given some chibatta bread to go with it that was hard as a rock & was nearly impossible to break with my hands. I guess that was dipping sauce and a little black cup. That was very nasty Tasting as well.
My daughter-in-law also had spaghetti and she said the two orders of spaghetti and a glass of wine is $70. That is outrageously overpriced. Not sure how you got a 4.4 rating when a simple spaghetti is as nasty as yours.

My first visit to Fresco Grill was a wonderful dining experience from the moment we entered this distinctly Italian atmosphere we were greeted by Leone the owner from a town south of Rome, then Alex our server on his first night on the job was friendly and provided excellent service! The Rack of Lamb was outstanding served on a bed of mashed potatoes and grilled squashes and carrots, and a luscious tasting sauce with fresh sprigs in rosemary. The Linguine Cioppino with fresh mussels, shrimp, clams, fish was great and a generous portion. Dessert was a Special for the night, a type of Cheesecake I’ve never seen or tasted before, not too sweet, melted in your mouth, then Alex surprised us saying dessert was on the house, complimentary from the owner as first time customers. I highly recommend Fresco Grill located in a pretty little village of shops and restaurants in Bonsall just off Highway 76 & Mission Rd not far from Interstate 15.
