Menudo was super good, and the homemade corn tortillas were amazing. If you in the St. Joe area looking for good mexican food give them a try. Oh yeah, chips and hot sauce are good.

Sotelo is the most authentic Mexican diner in St. Joseph. My wife ordered street tacos which were delectable. The carne asada is the best. I ordered the lunch fajita trio and the portions were very generous. Washing it all down with a Mexican Coca Cola was the proverbial icing on the cake.

As far as food quality I’ll give it a 4. It tastes homemade with a bit more attention to flavor vs other Mexican restaurants. The portions vs the price was a 5. And even though the place is small and not as appealing, I would visit again someday.

This little place is a treat! Fresh and tasty food, large selection on the menu, Spicy if you like or savory, unique or traditional the chips and salsa are excellent, obviously a homemade recipe on the salsa which was great, service is super friendly. It’s a cozy neighborhood restaurant feel with a big menu, it will surprise you ! Support these authentic hard working people !

I’m only reviewing the Menudo at this time. It is sooo good and the flavor is spot on. It’s not really hot or spicy but the flavor is awesome. Comes with choice of corn or flour tortillas, limes and cilantro and onion. And i felt 100% better after eating this. The large is little spendy but worth it. $15.

This is TRULY my fav Mexican restaurant. The food is authentic Mexican. I’ve had several of the food on their menu and the Pina Veracruzana is my absolute favorite. We’ve always gotten our food served together and with kindness, speed and professionalism. I’d give Sotello’s 20 stars if I could.

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. I could eat there everyday. Maria is the best and sweetest waitress ever! She remembers us by name every time. They need to improve the kitchen help so they are faster. Regardless, they are the best and are authentic to Mexican food.

I’ve been there several times now and I’m never disappointed. The food is wonderful and the staff friendly. It is one of my favorite places to eat in St. Joseph.

Super delicious food and friendly service. I loved the papusas, and my (usually picky) toddler enjoyed the enchilada, rice, and bean. We’ll for sure be back!

If I go back to St. Jo again, I’ll go back to Sotelo. The place is 9 tables inside a tiny building. It’s a hole in the wall. I saw two staff that were possibly husband and wife. It’s entirely possible they were the only ones there. I was there accidentally. We ordered tacos and a chilies rellanos. I got a full size Coke in a bottle and they brought us some chips and salsa. I don’t want to mislead anyone here. This isn’t the best authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had. What this was is about as close as you can get to being invited into a home where this is the standard fare. I believe our waitress probably bought everything we ate, probably cut and fried our chips, boiled the chicken, pork and so on. These people were working very hard. I’ve actively searched for this style of food all over the country. Sotelo is the basics. Not a mistake on on any plate anywhere in the room. There are no gimmicks in the recepies. No ghost peppers, no garlic or over powering flavors. This is just basic authentic Mexican food. Nothing wrong with it at all. The family working here were sweet to us and with all the tables filled still had smiles. Some people won’t get this place. There’s no kids menu here. My Coke was slightly cooler than the room, they forgot to give me silverware and so on. Same stuff happens at my house and that’s what this place is… A sweet family sharing good food and trying to make a buck in process. Enjoy it, pay them whatever they tell you and tip them well. You’ll leave full and happy.
